Four Letter Words
You've been invited to give the commencement address at the high school you attended (well, most of the time you and I attended). You've worked hard on your speech and have selected a topic that you know is vitally important to help the students succeed in life. But you also know it's not a popular one. To catch their attention you plan your speech to begin with some ear catching quotes.
I would like to begin using two four letter words. I know they will not sound pleasant to some of your ears, but it is vital that you hear them and use them often if you are ever going to succeed in life.
Those two four letter words are "Hard Work!"
Legendary football coach Vince Lombardi said, “The dictionary is the only place that success comes before work. Work is the key to success, and hard work can help you accomplish anything.”
Prolific inventor, Thomas Edison stated, “The three great essentials to achieve anything worthwhile are, first, hard work; second, stick-to-itiveness; third, common sense.”
President Thomas Jefferson declared, “I'm a greater believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it.”
And the great artist and sculpture, Michaelangelo said, “If people knew how hard I had to work to gain my mastery, it would not seem so wonderful at all.”
Success in life includes hard work, not necessarily hard physical work, but time consuming effort.
1.-I agree, your speech writing is off to a great start, but now you need to flesh it out with a story. So write about a guy you've worked with that didn't have a good work ethic or about one that had a great, hard work ethic and what resulted.
A lot of success in life is about mind over mattress. The hardest work is often just getting up early day after day, year after year. Many of you men in M3 have been dong that for decades and I highly commend you for such. That is one of the building blocks for being a manly man, being unstoppable. Those of you who are applying that same hard work ethic in your spiritual life in M3 are already making a great impact. It shows on the GREAT scoreboard. Far better, it shows before our Father's throne. Let us live to hear him say, "Well done!" Those are two four letter words I long to hear.
2.-After reading through Prov.14:19-35, pick one verse or phrase and write it on your MP3 card. Then look for opportunities to enrich others with it.
Announcements I want to give you a high 5 for scoring 5 or more points each day. Way to go! And thanks for posting your points on the board.
Please remember that when you put points on the board for Monday, it really is all that you did for the weekend.
Please give an encouraging word to Andre and John who were MIA yesterday. Thanks
1 I worked with a guy from Armenia who was very lazy. He only had to teach one class a week and manage the submission of documents, which was not very demanding. He didn’t have a degree in education and stayed in his office all day working on his master’s degree in business. He was very good at getting out of work. Every teacher was required to be active in a sport or club- he said he chose chess because he thought students wouldn’t really join and so he wouldn’t have to supervise anyone. There was a new principal hired at his school last year and the Armenia guy might be let go at the end of his contract this year.
ReplyDelete2 Verse 22 stands out a lot.
Ugh! Sure hope the new principal puts him out to pasture where he can move at the speed of the lazy cows.
DeleteHow is your unsaved friend, Tim doing? Has he gone to church with you?
Brother Ed, unfortunate but he'll have to deal with the consequences of his behavior and poor work ethics. I'm convinced you're shining and working diligently for the glory of God!
DeleteIt's an irony, that there is a high level of effort necessary to attain the escape of work, so that even in our evasion of work, yet we work. Great point Ed.
Delete1. Summer is the busiest time of year at work. Several years ago my coworker injured his knee at the beginning of the season and had to have surgery and was out for four months. At first I was really stressed out thinking of all the work I would have to do on my own. But soon decided to take on the challenge and with a lot of hard work and the help of some part-time workers I was able to successfully complete all the summer projects.
ReplyDelete2. Prov 14:26 "The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, that one may turn away from the snares of death. "
Good to see you in action working the day Roger!
DeleteI'm smiling having read about your conquering work ethic Roger. :) God is honored.
DeleteBrother Roger, you've proven yourself to be dependable and hard working!
DeleteGod is good. He is watching over you in a time of need. You maintained a positive attitude and completed the work.
DeleteTwo letter word: "Read Book".
ReplyDeleteJoshua 1:8 Study this book of Instruction Continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.
Joshua 1:9 This is my command -- be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For The Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
Gideon asked a question that we still ask today: "If The Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us?" The Lord did not give Gideon a direct answer to that question. Instead he told Gideon to go do something about it. He promised to go with Gideon. God will also go with us, but He won't do the work for us. We must trust and believe that God is with us and that He will provide what is necessary to accomplish His plan.
God frequently selects weak, insignificant, or unlikely people to serve Him, and He uses them for great purposes. Moses felt ill-equipped to lead the people, Barak was timid, and Gideon felt insignificant. At other times, God gifts people with great courage, confidence, or leadership abilities and then calls them to harness those natural talents. God can use anyone, no matter what weaknesses other people see in them.
Those who fear the LORD are secure; he will be a refuge for their children. (Proverbs 14:26 NLT)
Thanks for sharing bro!
DeleteMarcos I like what you did here. Great points for a graduation speech!
DeleteGlad we talked just a bit ago Marcos and will look forward to reading your thoughts on our topics in Proverbs.
DeleteBrother Rico, agreed "God can use anyone, no matter what weaknesses other people see in them." 1 Corinthians 1:28 "God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are,"
Delete1. I was taught to work hard by my dad. I worked the same job for seven years. It wasn't a good paying job but I worked hard through the years. I truly believe working hard and being committed got me a new job with better pay. It was god blessing me for sure. Hard work definitely pays off!
ReplyDelete2. Proverbs 14.31.ESV Whoever oppresses a poor man insults his Maker, but he who is generous to the needy honors him.
Excellent James! So glad your dad instilled in you a good work ethic. Please greet him for me.
DeleteJames you are a hard worker and since I've known you, you have always worked without any complaints or grumbling.
DeleteBrother James, you picked up on your dad's great qualities and that was wise of you. "Hard work definitely pays off!" Hebrews 6:10 "God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them."
DeleteGood post, James! Like you with your dad, it was my dad who inspired me to work hard. Anyway, I always remember seeing you working hard at church whenever I was going to group. Keep on with the good work you have been doing!
DeleteOne of my ex-co-workers was overwhelmed by work and wanted a better schedule. I know it was a lot of work because I was on the alternating day shift. He decided to request the night shift, which is not a better schedule. He figured it was less work and low key. Even though he was more knowledgeable than the current night worker, his wish was granted. About six months later, the night worker was promoted and will be receiving better pay and schedule. Go figure! All he had to do is hang on a little longer and keep putting in hard work.
ReplyDeleteProverbs 14:23 (NIV) All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.
Thanks Sam. So glad for the "promotion" the new job you've been blessed with. It's in part due to your great work ethic.
DeleteSam, thanks for stepping up and recruiting on Sundays. I see you faithfully at the alter ready to serve and connect each week.
DeleteSam, thanks for stepping up and recruiting on Sundays. I see you faithfully at the alter ready to serve and connect each week.
Delete1. I've been working since 15 yrs of age and have had several jobs since. Naturally, I've encountered few hard workers and plenty that worked hard at getting out of work. I have to confess a pet peeve, I dislike lazy people! But what I've learned is that sooner or later each in due time will reap what they've sown. "They sow the wind and reap the whirlwind." Hosea 8:7a
ReplyDelete2. "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin condemns any people." Proverbs 14:34
Amen brother, righteousness is hard work and a high cost but it's rewards are both temporal and eternal. Quality, quality, quality.
DeleteYou are a great example to the people around you of what it is to be a hard worker. Great testimony brother!
DeleteAnd your hard work has brought you promotions to be over people, Robert. (Though at times that may not seem like much of a reward:)
DeleteBrother Robert, I have to say that I see this every day at my job. Once people get comfortable they all start pointing fingers and nobody want to work. I have learned to show up do what I'm told and keep my sanity. Many of my fellow workers can't even see each other eye to eye. I show up happy, talk to everyone and leave happy (some of the time). Hard work always pays off!
Delete*two four letter word
ReplyDelete1. I'm all about hard work. I might not be the smartest, most eloquent, best at anything, but I'll do the work and try my best. When I coach sports I usually tell the players that I value hard work, effort, commitment, that's why I weigh attitude, behavior and efforts in practice heavily. I'd rather take a person who works hard over one who is talented and doesn't think they need to work. It's the humble position vs the prideful one.
ReplyDelete2.Proverbs 14:23 (NIV) All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.
Brother Eddie, "I value hard work, effort, commitment, that's why I weigh attitude, behavior and efforts" good value system! I've heard that "it's not the size of the dog but rather the size of the fight in the dog that matters" (Author unknown)
DeleteI like that the humble vs the prideful attitude. Great advise Eddie.
DeleteThat is a great testimony of using Godly wisdom in your coaching. Keep up the great work.
DeleteSo enjoyed what you wrote Eddie. Very good illustration.
DeleteMy father always has been a hard worker. He has been able to keep a roof over our heads through out his life. He was alaway on time for work and worked hard when he was at work. He was a factory worker all his life. Plus he could not read or wright. He still can't but he still get through life. Than he come home and work on our house. His work ethics is what I learned from him. I even learned from his bad ways. That's not to do the bad ways.
ReplyDeleteProverbs 14:15 A simple man believes anything, but a prudent man gives thought to his steps.
I'm thankful for my dad too Robert. He also was a factory worker and came home to expand our house as the family grew. What a great complaint free work ethic!
DeleteMike I'm glad that you had a dad that though you a great work ethic and you are a great testimony to your coworkers.
DeleteWhen I was younger I got a job and got a lot of my friends hired, but one friend didn't want to work. One day he got a job with a good company I saw him years latter he invited me to play softball, I asked him how work was going he said he was suing the company because he hurt his back ant couldn't work, but he just asked me to play softball with him. I haven't seen him in years I heard he has been living with here and there. proverbs 14,26 He who fears the LORD has a secure fortress/ and for his children it will be a refuge
ReplyDeleteOften excuses cover laziness.
DeleteWow Flo, good story. You continue to work even with your injured arm!
Delete1) I remember in high school when I played on the basketball team there was a kid on the team that made the first string team and his talent was very minimal, there were guys on the second string team that easily had more talent; but no where near more effort. Potential without use is equal to not having potential. The only way to find your full potential is to wisely expend all your present strength, few desire this and even fewer execute it.
ReplyDelete2) 29) A patient person shows great understanding, but a quick-tempered one promotes foolishness.
The patient in this context first seek to understand them selves and the situation that they face, restraining their desire to react until they have attained the truth or as much of it as can be attained before taking calculated deliberate action. The fool here feels and reacts nothing more. Let us not be fools brothers.
Great illustrative story and wise words Antonio!
DeleteBrother Tony, "Potential without use is equal to not having potential." reminds me of Samson, but also of myself!
DeleteI work for the city and work is hard at times mostly because I have many bosses who instruct us on what needs to be done and even on how it should be done. Mind you these job assignments and instructions are given by unqualified people who have no knowledge of the complexity of the work or the serious exposure we encounter daily in doing our work. My work entails us to following strict safety procedures from being in harms way, electrocution. They are hired and promoted through the bureaucratic system the city operates in, it becomes crazy at times only because the bosses have us doing unnecessary work because they don't bring us into the equation of asking us on what needs to be done to get the work accomplish. I use to get all worked up and upset at some of the idiotic request they were putting us through, put not no more, I've learned that no amount of explaining will help, they just want you to do what they request "order" you to do. I just make sure that I do take the necessary precautions in completing my work, over n over if I have to, this only because of their ignorance on what is required to do for us to get the work done. I do not let this upset me anymore. I do like my job and will continue to work as long as I am physically able too. Their is new hope on the horizon, a new manager was just hired last week to oversee our trades department, he is a new hire off the street and not a political promotion, with managerial experience in the trades. Only hope he doesn't get swallowed up by the city bureaucratic system. Prov. 14:30 "A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones." I liked to apply this to my everyday at work, it's an adventure daily at work sometimes, I can't change this, I can only do what I have too without any concern on who is barking the orders, I just like to be at peace and not let that be corrupted.
ReplyDeleteUgh! Sorry to hear that you have such a crazy situation at times Armando. You are a man of peace. Hope you and your son had a great time at Camp Pine Trails.
Delete1. I had a friend named Andrew who was a great hard worker. He would show up on time and work late. Every day whenever there were problems that people couldn't solve in assembling beds for a company called Striker he would go the extra mile to make sure that everything was done properly and problems fixed. Pretty soon he got a reputation for being the guy that could fix peoples problems and when it came for his time to Move On he was offered promotions and raises but he left that company anyway with greater referrals and recommendations.
ReplyDelete2. Proverbs14:31 Those who oppress the poor insult their Maker,
but helping the poor honors him.
Great story Dave of what will happen to a person that has a good work ethic.
DeleteGood story Dave! Might this be Andrew B who is now Pastor Andrew?
DeleteSo good being with you Memorial Day weekend with all the family.
I worked with a guy that that everyone one hated because he always got good missions I ended up working side by side everyday with this guy. Me and him always went on the big missions but I realized that it was because we worked the hardest at everything we did we never seen eye to eye on a lot of things but when it came down to accomplish a job we got it done. We both got promoted and both now lead teams .
ReplyDeleteGreat testimony Andre on why it pays off to be a hard worker.... You will succeed.
DeleteVery good Andre! We salute you. It's a day after Memorial Day, but always appropriate to say, "Thanks for serving God and country."
Delete1. I'm going to write about my experience with work. I was taught that I had to work hard to make a good living. Yes, this is true but it can also have serious consequences. I would see my father work 7 days a week 18 hour days. This was put in my head. I would say I would never do that because of him being a void in my life at times. Well lets forward 15 years later and I'm doing exactly what he was doing. I would work 90+ hours a week. That great work ethic had to be re-evaluated. God first, family second then work. I have scaled back my schedule but from time to time I still catch myself. One thing I learn is God is always faithful. No matter if I make 30K or 50K I will never have enough. As much as one make is as much as one spends. Hard work and money management go hand on hand.
ReplyDelete2. Proverbs 14: 23 NIV All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.
Wow, you are one hard worker Horacio! But I'm so glad you know better priorities now. Yes, the challenge now is to practice them. So glad you are with us!
DeleteSo true Horacio. There needs to be a balance between hard work at our jobs and the important things in life.
Delete1. I have a genetic brother whom I love immensely but he has always been very lazy and expects help from others and the system. He was in trouble often and quit jobs often because he was always smarter than his bosses. He always scraped by, but he also had 2 children before his wife divorced him for his laziness and attitude. Guess what happened to his children? Lazy to the max and in and out of trouble.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand my Uncle was a great man of God and he was saved at 16 as he was already supporting his alcoholic mother and then completely financially supported his younger brothers through working 2 jobs at 16. He followed the Lord always and found favor from the Lord and other Christians. He was hired as a laborer of a construction comp. then promoted to foreman then to run the company and then bought it out from the owner. He turned it into s great company and very successful and he was generous.
When I bought my 1st sports car I had personalized plates- Hard Work- and I thought that I earned it.
My Uncle and God have now showed me the meaning of true success: Faithfulness and Obedience to God; as well as hard work toward his Kingdom
2. Did it
What an incredible contrast you present between your brother's laziness and your uncle's hard work. Christ calls each of us to service. As He humbled himself at the washing of his disciples' feet, and as He humbled himself onto death on a cross, so too must we who choose to follow Him humble ourselves even when Go's graces overflow within us. It seems your uncle never lost of sight of the mission.
DeleteAmen Jack, I had the privilege of knowing your uncle. He surely is a man of God with a big and generous heart.
DeleteGreat contrasting stories Jack! You are a very hard worker and God has blessed you.
Delete1. I have a buddy named Martin Kieta. He started out homeless with a major drug habit. After many years of suffering, he let God in his life and got clean. He started working for minimum wage helping a friend. He went to work early everyday and always wanted to learn. He wanted to know everything about the business. He persevered and never gave up. He now owns a remodeling company and has alot of people working for him.
ReplyDelete2. Proverbs 14:29 People with understanding control their anger; a hot temper shows great foolishness.
Your buddy is a living testament to God's mercy and grace. There truly is no mountain high, valley low, or river wide enough to keep us from the loving embrace of our Father. If a man who once sank to the lowest of the low could be raised up by Christ, who, then, can claim they are too far from redeeming grace. Thank you for sharing this, brother Philip.
DeleteVery good story Phil to illustrate the benefits that hard work can bring.
DeleteI have a family member that during high school he was a dedicated hard worker. As he got older he began to drink and use drugs. He still got a few good jobs,(Quaker oats, del monte, caterpillar and Kmart distribution center) he quit them all. He eventually got injured on one of the jobs and now collects disability. He still struggles with his addictions as well.
ReplyDeletePowerful story Ricardo illustrating how drugs and drinking erode men.
DeleteIt is too bad for your family member. Addictions and bad habits will sabatoge a good work ethic any day :(
Delete1.-This how I would start my speech and my favorite quote “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy” Martin Luther King Jr. After high school I worked with a group of young men at a hospital but because of their bad work ethic, I was fired. I was trying to fit in but did everything wrong and so they got rid of me. It was a bad time and a bad experience that I will not forget. As a Christian no, I no longer look to fit in with the wrong group to be accepted. I now follow Jesus Christ and Christian men that serve God wholeheartedly. I seek to do well to others and continue to learn from Christian leaders that served God. I pray to bring young men to know God as my mission. Amen.
ReplyDelete2.-Prov.14:30, a heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones. Did it.
Amen Oscar that is great mission to have. May God continue to guide your ways as you serve Him.
DeleteExcellent Oscar! Great quote and personal story. And I love your mission- I pray to bring young men to know God as my mission. Amen. M3 is here to help you achieve that mission and to help those young men then grow and multiply as well.
DeleteI had the great fortune and blessing to know a man who worked his entire life in service to others. I knew him to wake early in the morning, put in a hard day's work, often doing hard labor in the scorching Texas heat, go home to his family, make time for his wife and children, have dinner with them, and attend to the needs of the household. As a young boy he practically raised his seven brothers and sisters, of whom he was the eldest. He cooked for them, watched their dirty clothes, ironed them, and ensured the upkeep of his parents' home while they worked late into the night.
ReplyDeleteFate might have played out differently had his older brother not been a stillborn child. He might have lived a life of being served rather than being of service, but God had different plans, and we all know God's plans are better than the best laid plans of men. In his lifetime, he'd earn a living selling ceramic at the local flea market to feed his wife and kids. By night, he'd tend to his mother's sales business, delivering merchandise throughout South Texas and Northern Mexico. He'd sweep the upper floors of the second largest building in the largest city in the region while it was still under construction, and unload cargo planes at the regional airport. Eventually, he would be hired as an electronics delivery man before being promoted to manager of the stor he had previously delivered for. His hard work, honesty, and strong work ethic earned him the respect of the store's owner.
This man would rise before the sun, devote a half hour to prayer before breakfast...before his wife and kids were up and about. He's kiss each of them goodbye, and head out for another day. One Sunday morning, while he readied himself for church, this man suffered an unexpected aneurysm and passed away in the presence of his wife, second born son, and two youngest children. He was 45. I had the privilege of knowning this man, because he was my father. God called his name before he could see me graduate from university, marry my wife, and raise a family of my own, but not before modeling to all four of his children what it meant to be a man of God...a manly man who put his family before his own well-being...an unstoppable man whose faith carried him through each day. My father didn't get to teach me how to repair a car or fix a leaky pipe, but he pointed the way to He who IS the way, the truth, and the life. I lost my father, but I was just as suddenly adopted by my Heavenly father as my earthly father was taken away. Under the loving embrace of the Father, I have never gone without, never encountered a problem I couldn't overcome, or known failure in anything I've undertaken. The legacy of a father was to entrust his sons to the Lord, to guide them to Him, though it took us a while to surrender to the love of God after such a painful loss.
For my MP3 Card, I have chosen Proverbs 14:26 "Whoever fears the Lord has a secure fortress, and for their childrenit will be a refuge." From my God-fearing father, my brothers and inherited a fortress, which has been our refuge in his absence. God calls us, now, to maintain this fortress, to defend it with he Word that our own children may inherit a refuge from our fear of the Lord.
What a touching story and great tribute to your dad, Osiris. I only wish I could have known him.
DeleteIt seems that you have inherited a diligent work ethic from him as well.
Brother Osiris, I'm moved by your posting. I'm sure you must've held back tears as you wrote it. Wonderfully heartbreaking yet inspiring! Thank you :-)
Delete1.. I've noticed 2 types of hard workers, the one that gets ahead with his hard work, and the one that doesn't with his hard work. At my old job, I had a coworker who stayed late many time and took on extra projects. He was a Christian man that did this for a few years but all he got was more hard work. Another, put the same amount of effort, but the difference was that he had a very charismatic personality and had a way with getting along with people. He eventually became the manager of the whole department. I'm not saying we shouldn't put in hard work because it won't get us anywhere, I'm saying that we should work hard because God will bless us for our work. It might not be evident in a raise or promotion but it could be seen other ways. The Christian man I just talked about, he might be in the same pay grade regardless of his hard work, but I'm here telling his story to everyone. Maybe thats one of Gods blessing to us all.
ReplyDelete2. Proverbs 14:29 Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly.
Excellent Chuy! You've very observantly noticed something very important. There is more than one ingredient for "success."
DeleteProverbs only gives one of them at a time, yet people will often grab on to one and wonder why they aren't succeeding as another is. As you also point out, success is what God thinks of us, not the size of our paychecks.
Your providing some interesting examples Chuy. Stay unstoppable brother.
Deletemy grandfather was a man with a great work ethic. he would get to work 30min early. he was a great carpenter. he could build anything right and quick. he could only see from one eye. he could only speak spanish. yet he didnt let any of that hold him back. he is an inspiration to me. never let your defects affect your future. he was a man of faith. i miss him but i know he is with his saviour. his legacy he left on earth is still going on.
ReplyDeleteYou were blessed Vince to have such a godly example whom you could follow. He will be honored that you are carrying on his lagecy.
DeleteVince, that's a beautiful story and tribute to your grandfather.
DeleteBrother Vince, may your grandfather's love and legacy continue to comfort your heart even in the midst of his absence!
Delete1) I knew an older friend named Tim from our former church. Tim had one more year to work before he could retire from his trucking company job. He worked as a “Spotter” which meant that he had to put together the the truck cabs and the trailers. He had to make sure all the connections were properly made. All the lights had to work on the truck cabs and on the trailers. He inspected the tires and was responsible for many other safety checks. He also had to clear the trucks for shipping before the truck left the warehouse. There was one man who was the union steward who did not like Tim at all. He would write Tim up for the slightest things. Sometimes he would even write up Tim for things that were not part of his responsibilities. He threatened to get Tim fired before he could retire. Tim prayed and asked God to help him do a good thorough job so that he would not get written up. Tim made his own checkoff lists that he printed from home. He added extra checks that were not his responsibilities but really helped the Truck Drivers. As hard as the union steward tried to find some fault with Tim's work, he was not able to find anything wrong. All the drivers were requesting that Tim be the one to spot their loads. As he retired, Tim was recognized by the Truck Drivers and his superiors and the other Spotters for doing such an excellent job.
ReplyDelete2) Did It
David, that's a great story of someone putting in the extra work and getting recognized.
DeleteWow, great story Dave! He reminds me of Daniel, without fault in his duties. You must have known him well to tell that story so well.
DeleteGreat story Dave, Keeping a checklist of duties readily available to keep you accountable, I love it!
Delete1 – There was a man I worked with for about 10 years. He was good at his job but would not go above and beyond, one of the people who would say things like “that’s not my job” when asked to help someone out. When the economy took a downturn and the company needed to save costs he was one of the first people to get laid off. They kept the people that were willing to help out and pick up new responsibilities. After he was let go it took him a long time to find a new job and I believe one of the reasons was because he didn’t pick up new skills when he had the opportunity.
ReplyDelete2 – Proverbs 14: 29 People with understanding control their anger; a hot temper shows great foolishness.
Wow George, that is a very good story that everyone needs to read and heed in this economy that we now live in.
DeleteGreat point George! -- "He was good at his job but would not go above and beyond". We should all seek to consider the interests of others as very important :)
Delete1. I knew a person who was tech but got promoted into mangement. Now I didn't know this person very well but through other union co workers stories were that did not have the best attitude, work ethics, drive nor people skills to get that type of position. After a year or so being in mangement, he would not do anything to improve his team, build relationships with his team, look for ways to develop himself and his team instead. We'll to keep it short last time I've heard this guy is on his last straw on what called mangement performance plan.
ReplyDelete2. Proverbs 14:23
Ok well I have tried to post and my messages just got erased, so I'm gonna try one more time
ReplyDeleteThat happened to me a couple of times. I type it out on Word or somewhere else and then copy and paste it in.
DeleteI guess it has helped due to really not having much on mind tonight cause I'm tired but just thought about my uncle, he was a pretty unreliable person when he was younger, didn't like school, never went to school much, hung out with his friends a lot and never made nothing of himself until God was able to give him some understanding of what his life was gonna end up as, he has worked extremely hard. He maintains a family, he has worked 3rd shift, started going to school in the mornings, he studied computer programming, got promoted with in his own job to build programs for the same company, graduated from devry with honors and all this while taking care of his wife and 2 girls. He was and is still a hard worker and very diligent. I am proud of him because at one point I wanted to be like him and I felt that he was the brother I never had but we each have our own destiny and he has built his and he's a great example to me.
ReplyDeleteProverbs 14:22-23, 27, 29-30, 34
Do not those who plot evil go astray? But those who plan what is good find love and faithfulness.
All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.
The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, turning a person from the snares of death.
Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly.
A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.
Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin condemns any people.
Brother Guillermo, how wonderful that God brings beauty out of ashes and makes dead, dry bones come back to life! It's evident how much you admire and love him :-)
Delete1.I work with the guy who's work ethic was very strong. Whenever he did a job he would work at it as if he was working for the Lord. He did lots of things to help people. I think he was a very successful man. When you put people before money I think the Lord blesses that type of worker.
ReplyDelete2. I like this verse because I think that the United States is a righteous nation. But we all sin and fall short of the glory of God but we strive to be better. Thank you Lord for the Holy Spirit that helps us in life's decisions.Proverbs 14:34 NIV
Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin condemns any people.
Hello George, I like your quote, "When you put people before money I think the Lord blesses that type of worker." So true :)
Delete1. I knew a guy who started working in my real estate office many years ago. He worked very hard and left the office and landed a huge bank account of foreclosures, he became one of the biggest foreclosure realtors in the entire city. He really hustled! In the real estate world, it is sink or swim, because you are paid on commission only!!
ReplyDelete2. Proverbs 14:23 says, "All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty." this is straight to the point! Don't be a talker, be a doer :)

DeleteHey, Tio Is. In a similar way to the guy that you were talking about, I know for a fact that you are a hard-working, meticulous person too! Keep up the good work!
DeleteThanks Alex, I really really really appreciate those words of encouragement :)

ReplyDelete1. Whether I'm working with my uncle or taking college classes, I try very hard to do things exceptionally. In school, that means not settling for anything less than an A in a class. In work, that means I try to do things quickly and do best that I could. Those are goals that I try very hard to keep. With school, I've kept up my goal. Thank God! However, I have faltered sometimes at work in all honesty. Anyway, It is most certainly not the easy way to do things, but it is worth the work in the end.
ReplyDelete2. I wrote down two verses instead.
Proverbs 14:23 “All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.”
Proverbs 14:34 “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin condemns any people.”
