Mon.6.15.15...I Salute You...Prov.21:16-31

Wow! What a great M3 meeting yesterday! For those who don't attend New Life Midway, it was a time where a number of men were honored. (Honor or "respect those who work hard among you" 1 Th.5:12.) For example, the following men earned their Unstoppable Award pin for being unstoppable in God's word for four weeks straight- Andre Vargas, Chuy Cervantes, Dave DeBoer, Flo Juarez, Oscar Nunez, and Osiris Alday. Way to go men!

We also recognized the men who joined M3 since our last meeting a month ago- Jose Billagas (via George Doherty), William Dyckman (via Eddie Morales), Luis Ortiz (via Ismael Andrade), Horacio De La Torre and Mark Estrada (via dg). Be ready to welcome some new brothers this week, starting with Lou Ojeda whom we all met at the meeting. Thanks Sam for bringing him on board. So give a warm welcome to Lou!

It was also great to honor George Doherty who graduated from Basic Training (everyone starts there). He had already earned his Unstoppable award pin and recently recruited Jose Billegas. This advances George from being a Protege (Pro) to a Coach. Who will be advancing to a coach at our next month's meeting, July 12th?

We also honored all the men who hold the rank of R1 to R5!
R1- Antonio Palomar, Dave Heidekrueger, Gary Remson, George Doherty, George Rabiela, Israel Fuentes, Robert Roman, Roger Vinlasaca and Vince Diaz
R2- Ismael Andrade and Mike Pagan
R3- Sam Vargas
R4- Jack Rogers
R5- Eddie Morales (Congratulations Eddie and welcome back from your Mexico mission trip!)
I salute you all! Well done!

Our mission is a very high calling- to multiply manly men. Please keep encouraging the men you enlist. These are your sons in the faith, your legacy. Your rank reflects those men who stay in M3. We are our brother's keeper. Be like a good shepherd to your own. Proverbs 27:23 says, "Be sure you know the condition of your flocks..."  So if you notice one of your recruits struggling on the board or wandering from the Lord, call him and ask your fire-teammates to contact him as well. "My brothers, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring him back, remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save him from death and cover over a multitude of sins" James 5:19-20. To help you, I will be texting you and your fire team when one of your men is MIA on the blog. Thanks for being "devoted to one another in brotherly love" Romans 12:10. (12:10 brother!:)

Having said this, I am not implying that a man is wandering away from the Lord if he decides to drop out of M3. This ministry is not for everybody and I will grace, not guilt, anyone who decides this mission with this band of brothers is not for him. But let me also say this. I have been disappointed with a few brothers who have dropped out and did not even show the courtesy to return my several caring calls. That is doubly rude, because they made a commitment to return calls promptly. That is the behavior of irresponsible boys, not men. I didn't call them boys; it's the behavior of irresponsible or fearful boys. They just need to man up. If they owned a business, wouldn't they expect an employee to communicate if they were going to resign? It's simply the mature and thoughtful thing to do. It hurts to be so slighted when we have devoted ourselves to helping others grow. Thanks for being manly men!

Speaking of recruiting, thanks for caring enough to talk to others about what you have found to be so helpful. Remember, you get double points now for such conversations. (Only 2 points for group presentations. Please focus on individual conversations. Again, think of it like courting. Don't ask a bunch at once:)

1.- At the meeting yesterday, I also passed out a powerful outreach tool- our new greatestminimovies.com cards. Please go to that site now and watch one of the videos and share the name of it and a bit about it. (I want you to give out these cards, knowing what powerful videos are within it for people to see. If you didn't get any cards, text me and we will make it happen.)

Our disciplines determine our destiny. Our holy habits influence our eternal impact. So please join me in a new holy habit- giving out our Greatest Minimovies cards regularly. Why not see if you can give out one a day? I do. No failure if you don't. But be looking for opportunities. Just think what an eternal impact you could make. "He who wins souls is wise" Prov.11:30.

2.- Read through our passage in Proverbs for today- 21:16-31 and write out the verse or phrase you picked.

Remember to give yourself credit on the scoreboard for this past weekend.

Wow! I am proud of you all! Almost all of you are scoring so well. And I believe this week everyone will be scoring 25 points or more. The team averages below again did not include the team leaders. They are focusing on helping you succeed. But as you can tell, they are doing a great job of scoring. (Eddie even scored respectably while in Mexico!) First place this week goes to Fire Team 3 which just beat out Fire Team 2 by a nose.

  1. 1. The video I watched was: "Adam and Eve were just myths". Very good video that addresses several negative comments that people have against the credibility of events that took place in the Bible. Each of the comments is clearly refuted based on the Word of God. Also very nice pictures in the video.

    2. "The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the Lord."

The verse reminds me that we're responsible for our readiness ("be prepared in season and out of season...." 2 Timothy 4:2b) but the outcome and victory is decided by the Lord.

  12. 1- I watched "what does God look like". People can come up with many different views and interpretations of what God looks like and His character. I too growing up in church now look back and I also in a way had a very generic and even a distorted view of God. Now as an adult as I've come to know Him on a deeper level and reading the Word. He is everything in everything and so much more than I can even explain in my life. I too have wondered what Gods physical appearance looks like. That's why I'm drawn to one of my favorite chapters in the bible, Revelations chapter 4. Although Hohn doesn't explain his physical appearance he does try his best to describe Gods throne room. Everything I read that I try to imagine it but I know that my imagination is just a fraction of the awesomeness of the reality of what it really looks like. But by faith, one day I'll get too see it with my own eyes and see Him as well

    2- Proverbs 21:23.
Whoever keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps himself out of trouble.

This stood out to me because I can recall times when my words got me in trouble. I however seen lately how God has worked in me and I'm able to control my tongue a lot more.

    3. Florentino, Keep it up bro. God is molding and shaping you day by day. Just take it a day at a time and keep seeking Him.
2 Corinthians 4:16 So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.

When i said I have wondered what He looks like, i was saying more on details. Since the Word lets us know we are a mold after him.
Genesis 1:26a Then God said, "Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness.
Genesis 1:27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

    4. good Luis! As we look into the mirror of God's word, we get a glimpse of Him. "Now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face." 1 Cor.13;12. I too look forward to that glorious day.

  13. 1 I watched falling plates. Its amazing how it spaeka about how much the lord loves and cares for us, how he made us to be pure. But as we begin to grow we as people tend to become distant from him. It talks about how he blessed us with life, and he continues to bless us with everyday that we wake.

    2. Proverbs 21:30 There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the lord.

I chose this passage, because I've come to realize that the lord plan for us is the only real plan we have in life. The whole time I was living life based on my plan I gained nothing but pain and suffering. As I changed my life and started to follow the lords plan I found comfort and compassion, I owe every living day to our lord, he has truly blessed me and has given me more than a second chance at life. He's given me eternal life in his kingdom.....

    2) Proverbs 21:21
    Whoever pursues righteousness and love
    finds life, prosperity and honor.

Seeking to be in right relationship with God and people by following and applying biblical instructions will generally result in a fulfilling, satisfying life. In this world it typically will be a life that is blessed and blesses others and it will usually be praised and admired those encountered. But also God promises eternally to bestow perfection, the richest rewards and the highest, worthy esteem, one could ever properly receive.

  16. I watched "I Believe in Evolution" and I strongly recommend it. We live in a world of daily discovers, where our ability to distribute information to a world-wide audience in seconds makes it possible to learn something new each day. I am a naturalist at heart, and a scientist by training. As a boy, I struggled with the idea that we could have evolved from lower, more primitive life-forms, but that is what my science teachers expected me to believe, or at least consider a possibility. While I am not one to rule out any possibility, the simple truth is I have eyes that see, and my eyes have seen during my time in contact with nature the beauty of God's handiwork.

Five minutes on a hike in the woods has me marveling at the attention to detail that has gone into the creation of every living and non-living thing. If all of this is simply the result of a random event billions of years ago, what does that say about the meaning of life and our purpose on this Earth? Are we all simply mistakes...accidents...a freak occurrence in nature. No. We are all touched by grace and we are all capable of love and compassion. Good luck explaining how these expressions of life evolved from a giant explosion in the emptiness of space. This video does a great job of affirming that we are children of a loving and all-powerful God.

Proverbs 21:21 "Whoever pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity, and honor." To live rightly, in accordance with the will of God, or Creator, and to love as He loves us, what greater purpose do we need than this. When I catch myself foolishly mulling over this question (what is my purpose), I am brought back to my senses by these words: you were made to love the agod that created you and to love all the marvelous works He has surrounded you with. That is my purpose, and living out this purpose HAS brought me life, and a life of prosperity and honor. I am a son of Almighty God. I am humbled to call myself this, and lifted up at the same time. Live righteously, my brothers...love boundlessly.

Hoorah, Fire Team 3. God bless you brothers. Let's keep up the good fight in Jesus's Holy Name.

  17. 1. – “Draw me a picture” Most people sometimes want to see the big picture before committing to anything. They want to see the end result to see if it worth the time. God promise us from the beginning to give us eternal live with him. What is better than eternal life with God in a perfect heaven? Nothing in this world. Just the name of Jesus is the big picture, who is the main focus to live a new life. This video summarizes who Jesus is and why he is the main focus to live for. A life pleasing to God, and a life of righteousness. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. This video will at least sparks people interests to learn more about God and Jesus. It’s a starting point and an outreach to new man to become manly men. Amen.

  19. 1.- watched video "Good God - Evil World".

Why does God allow all the suffering, violence and disasters in world, why not in his majestic power does he not put a stop to all these injustices. Video illustrates that God has given us free will of choice since the time of creation, these catastrophic events are results, consequences of our choices. Since Adam n Eve chose to sin n rebel against God, God has brought upon humanity death n judgement.

    2.- Verse for today
Pov. 21:17. Whoever loves pleasure will become poor; whoever loves wine and olive oil will never be rich.

Many have fallen victim to the luxuries of this world only to bring devastation and ruin to their lives. The love of this life is a form of idolatry which God detest and will bring upon oneself His wrath.

  20. 1. I believe in evolution! Thisvideo caught my eye. I have been working with people at work that are non believers. They just don't believe in God or his word. Over time i have noticed that they are hungry for knowledge and understanding of the gospel. Slowly they have come around and opened up. I have given them scripture and they are very curious. I have led them to our web page and to listen to straight talk with Pastor Mark. They do believe but they ate scared of new thing and what Good had in store for them. With This card the can navigate they videos and have now l more questions answered. After service i handed my first one or at work to a fellow Co worker. Life is good!

The video I watched was "What does God look like". It was a great reminder to us that it is only natural we wonder what God looks like, both in appearance and character. Where we overlook though, is that the word says that whoever has seen Jesus Christ, has seen the Father. It goes on the list so many amazing qualities that Jesus possesses.

It was a stirring, refreshing, and made me all the more what to seek Christ-like character with all my heart!

2). My chosen Verse from our readings today is:

Proverbs 21:30 "There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the Lord."

Amen! What a encouragement that nothing can stand against our God!

  24. 1) No longer a Muslim. I loved it. Particularly because he was an informed Muslim with great zeal. I love how he saw a change in the Christians he met, and was drawn to the wisdom that flowed from their mouth. I love, love, love that just like saul of Tarsus he sought to disprove the Gospel but found himself converted by it. Praise God for the peace he received but could never earn. The peace of knowing he was accepted, forgiven, loved.
    2) 21:21 The one who pursues righteousness and faithful love will find life, righteousness, and honor. (HCSB)
Seek to honor God and you will find many blessings, it is difficult to be angry with those who are a benefit to you because of their character, or those who desire your best interest, they will win your respect and honor even if your reject their ways. There are times that we find trouble in place of honor in those times we have the opportunity to truly be like Jesus. To be mistreated because our Godly stnadards are an offence to those who love wickedness and call evil good.Do not become weary in well doing for in due time you will reap a harvest if you persevere and faint not.

    3. Brother Tony, "they will win your respect and honor even if your reject their ways." reminded me of Proverbs 16:7 "When the Lord takes pleasure in anyone’s way, he causes their enemies to make peace with them." Also, great example of a radical conversion with Saul/Paul.

  27. 1 - The video I watched is A Man Fell in a Hole. I liked how it highlighted the way other religions say what you need to do to be saved but only Christianity show Jesus going down into the hole to help the man.

2 - Proverbs 21:23 Watch your tongue and keep your mouth shut, and you will stay out of trouble.

  28. 1. "Say no to religion" this gives topics of what was God intention to have with us... a relationship not a religion, how do we get that relationship and how that looks like? That's by mercy and grace given to us by Jesus Christ.
You know this is a great topic just cause I spoke and had a conversation earlier today with my twin. I've been sending some links on certain topics we discussed before(on M3). And brought the question if he has read or taken a look, answer was no. To make long story short my brother says he believes in Jesus Christ as Lord and savior but refuses to read or have know about scripture. His answer was "my relationship with Christ doesn't have to involve reading scripture, then that turns out to be religion following a bunch of instructions" "my relationship comes from the heart and what he tells me". I then responded, how would one know Christ and his character, his mercy and grace, his love for one, his ways if one won't open the book"?. Then I continue saying it's like buying a car, and every car has a manual instruction of its functions and all its features, if one don't open it then chances are one won't know how to properly drive it or work it"?.. my brother said "good point, but still have my own beliefs". I gently dropped it and just said thank for always being open to talk these type of conversations with me with out any type of arguments...
sorry I went off topic a bit but it reminded me of what some people think religion is.

    1. You handled that conversation like a manly man, brother. You didn't push the matter, but you definitely planted the seed. I will pray that your brother recognize the truth in the point you raise. You wouldn't marry a woman you just met. You'd get to know her, listen to her words, examine her character, and build a relationship with her before even considering tying your life to hers. Why wouldn't we do the same with our Lord and Savior, who wants nothing more than to have a relationship with us. I praise God that the Holy Spirit burned within you and guided your words.

    1. Great verse, Nicpal! How easily poorly chosen words can get us into all sorts of trouble. One bad slip up, and you may even be subjected to physical pain, but this verse reminds me that what comes forth from my mouth can have an even greater effect on the health of my soul. We should strive to speak grace and share the Word. Every word from our lips should bring glory to our Lord and Savior and reflect His love in us.

    2. Brother Nic, may the Lord grant you victory and continue to strengthen you, in Jesus name, amen!

  30. i watched "I wanna live it up" one thing that hit me the most is that it doesnt matter what others do it matters that i choose to follow Jesus and love God.

    1. Amen, brother! Our decision to follow Jesus is as personal as the journey we walk as His disciples. We live in a world that gets so caught up in earthly matters that we sometimes forget to put Christ at the center of our very existence. It is a matter of personal choice to keep God at the center of it all, no matter what the world around us does. Thank you for sharing about this video. I will take the time to watch it.

  32. 1) I watched "I Thought." The short movie was very interesting and thought-provoking. I liked the movie because it battled the lies we believe with the truth that we need to know.

    2) Here are the verses:
Proverbs 21:23 "Those who guard their mouths and their tongues keep themselves from calamity."
Proverbs 21:30 "There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the Lord."
