I Don't Believe that Jesus Really Rose from the Dead
Each and every theory is an attempt to deny that Jesus was and is God who came in the flesh to die for our sins. Skeptics would have us believe that he was only a great teacher, not God our Redeemer. If Jesus never died and rose from the dead, then I wonder how would any of these theories explain away John 20:26-31.
1.-Read that passage, John 20:26-31 and then share anything from it and/or today's video.
2.-Copy on your MP3 card John 20:27- "Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe."
Here's another problem with the Swoon theory. Peter and John saw the strips of linen that had been wrapped, with the 75 pounds of gooey spices, around Jesus body. (Read John 19:40 and 20:3-9). How did he get out of them? And then how did he escape from the tomb? That huge boulder would be rather difficult to roll away, especially with nail pierced hands. (Perhaps the Swoon theory should be called the Houdini theory:) And would such a weakened man scare away the battle hardened Roman guards? And then how did he amazingly appear and disappear? That would be miraculous. It's a whole lot easier to believe that Jesus was miraculously raised from the dead as he predicted.

1. When man does not want to turn from his sinful lifestyle he may come up with baseless theories like the three mentioned above to not believe in the resurrection of Christ.
ReplyDeleteThe video does a great job in refuting all of the false theories. If people would only spent time reading the Word expecting to find the truth they would realize their mistakes. John 20:31 " but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name."
May we be the ones that point them to God and His Word so that they too may be saved.

Amen.Roger. He has risen!
DeleteVery well said Roger!
DeleteI agree fully with you Roger! I realized when I stopped reading the word. I would come up with excuse for my sin. Staying in the word definitely gives you answers and keeps you from doubting. Good word!
DeleteI have absolutely no words for what Jesus went through, I was one of those that questioned. Came to realize by scripture that my life has been reflected and undoubtedly wrong in many ways. It is unmistakable that just a brutal beating can leave you without life, and no need to crucify, or anything else beyond that. How is it that Jesus survived a brutal beating and still held on to the cross.
ReplyDeleteI'm am sadened and grateful, I have felt like verse 27, let me feel and touch but I think that was just cynical of me. Thank you all for helping me understand and speaking gods words that help me see and feel.
DID IT
Yes thank you Jesus that you illuminate our minds, eyes and hearts to know about you more.
DeleteBrothers, God has spoken, Thank You Lord!
DeleteYes, Guillermo, the evidence for the resurrection is unmistakable and we are blessed for believing. So glad you do without demanding more signs.
Delete1.-Read that passage, John 20:26-31 and then share anything from it and/or today's video. The 3 theories presented in video again are the attacks of the unbelievers in this world and there theories can not be proven as factual or truth, they reach for every and any explanation to disapprove the existence of God, Jesus and the Gospel. All the events leading to Jesus crucifixion and resurrection have been witness and written about in the bible. To entertain or consider there theories is foolish. All things considered, we have to remember, scripture was written and recorded not only to teach and inform us of God but also to disapprove doubter's as Thomas was so we can also see the truth. God calls us to believe by faith, but due to our sin factor we need to continuously read the bible to solidify our faith and nourish our spirit. Even as unbelief and sin set's in this world, God still loves and forgives us, "God gifts and his call are irrevocable." Romans 11:29.
ReplyDelete2.- Did it.
Very good Armando! I especially like the following that your wrote- "scripture was written and recorded not only to teach and inform us of God but also to disapprove doubter's as Thomas was so we can also see the truth. God calls us to believe by faith, but due to our sin factor we need to continuously read the bible to solidify our faith and nourish our spirit."
Delete1. What stuck out to me the most of that from the swoon theory and twin theory is, the theories seem too extreme and would have gone against Jesus' teaching and character, as he would have to lie about his resurrection. And the hallucination theory, would be impossible for over 500+ people to have the same hallucination at once. But although these theories are out there, it goes to the point that they are theories and have been tested and thought through and by faith and hope we as Christian believe they have been disproven because Jesus did rise from the grave. With all these theories it is kinda like what we also read from John today..."blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."
ReplyDeleteYes Eddie, and the hallucination theory does not explain how Jesus walked, talked and ate with many of them. He gave them far more than a distant vision of himself. See you soon or on TV :)
DeleteAmen! Well said Eddie. I am proud to say that i know a star from the best commercial on television ;)
DeleteJust want to make Him famous!
DeleteGuillermo. Very good and I'm so glad you believe and taken bold steps to move forward thanks for opening up with us and being a solid blogger on M3
ReplyDelete1. Jesus went through such pain for us and yet many are too proud to admit he was our Messiah or they are so ignorant to the facts of the destruction of his body that he could never have left the tomb on his own.
ReplyDeleteI think the biggest issue is that many people do not believe he was risen because they have no faith in what they can't see like Doubting Thomas or they are too lazy to delve into the Word. To understand the truth-- so they go on hear say., fact: Jesus died on the cross for us and we can never repay him, but we can give him our hearts and live our lives worthy of trying to repay.
2. Did it
Right on Jack! "Jesus died on the cross for us and we can never repay him, but we can give him our hearts and live our lives worthy of trying to repay."
Delete1. God has given us the ability to reason and He even invites us to do so "Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool." Isaiah 1:18
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful to be able to refute logically the claims of skeptics but the problem with that is that it exponentially becomes atomized.
The Bible clearly states that proof is not the same as having faith.
"But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have?" Romans 8:24b
"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." Hebrews 11:1
"For we live by faith, not by sight." 2 Corinthians 5:7
"looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith," Hebrews 12:2a
God is not confined to the laws of physics, for He created them and thus is above them. Regardless of all the proof that can possibly be given to a "non-believer", if their hearts are not receptive they'll continue to reject God's Saving Grace!
2. Did it :-)
Well said Robert. May we teach to reach the heart of man.
DeleteYes Robert, and fortunately our faith is not a blind faith, but a reasonable faith. Paul reasoned with unbelievers (Acts 17:2,17; 18:4,19). And we are to give a reason for the hope that lies within us (1 Pet.3:15). So glad you're good at this. As Josh McDowell has said, "My heart cannot rejoice in what my head rejects." God uses our reasoned scriptural explanations to "open their eyes and them from darkness to light." Of course not all turn, as you pointed out. But what is also good to know is that the seeds we plant may bear fruit in another season. I know you already know these things. But these are good things for other brothers to be reminded of that may read this too. Best of blessings!
DeleteBrother Dave, agreed. I hope I didn't give the impression that we're not to defend our faith. Because we are! "Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints." Jude 1:3
DeleteMy intentions were to point out that our time and resources should be poured into profitable and willing vessels as apposed to getting dragged into a rabbits hole of debates with a never ending maze of scenarios. "Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces." Matthew 7:6
"But avoid foolish disputes, genealogies, contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and useless. Reject a divisive man after the first and second admonition, knowing that such a person is warped and sinning, being self-condemned." Titus 3:9-11
Thanks be to God that all of you are here to guide me and teach me
ReplyDeleteThe video is great! It disproves the theories of non believers and shows how insane and invalid these theories really are. For people to say that Jesus wasn't really dead, had a twin, or that his followers were all hallucinating just sounds crazy to me.
ReplyDeleteI love how Jesus appeared to ''Doubting Thomas" and says "Put your fingers here" and to stop doubting and believe! I can only imagine how Thomas felt at that moment.
Did it
Excellent Phil! O to be there and see Jesus and Thomas!
Deletethe video does a good job of pointing out foolishness of people do not believe Jesus died on the cross,we as followers of Jesus Christ no he died on the cross for our sins and it is
ReplyDeletebecause we live by faith and not by sight.
2.did it
You are right John, people need to know that Jesus died on the cross for all of their sins. All they have to do is believe.
DeleteYes John. I'll second what Roger said.
Delete1) It is interesting to see these man made theories with no proof. If God doesn't exist, prove it.
ReplyDeleteNo one can. The evidence is in the bible. May we lead others to read it by faith, so they may be blessed.
2)Did it.
That is so right Sam, man cannot prove that God does not exist. I pray that all of us in M3 will be effective communicators of the truth of God.
DeleteGood Sam!
DeletePS- I saw "God's Not Dead" yesterday with my family. Muy bueno!
Alright. The song is very good as well. I seen them about a year ago at the winter bash.
Delete1. It's amusing to see how people will come up with some far fetched theories to try and avoid the truth.
ReplyDelete2. Did it
You're so right about that Rich!
Delete1) The theories are funny. I mean they do make a interesting connection but it seems like it trying to figure out Jesus' death not the purpose of his death. Jesus died for our sins. That should be the main point. Which clearly those people who came up with those theories clearly missed. I have to admit they do make some interesting conclusions, But there seems to be more cons then pros.
ReplyDelete2) Did it
Yes Vince, its hard to find the light when they're looking in the dark.
Delete1- The video was showing how people try to rationalize Jesus's death. Also the way people in general try to disbelief in Jesus. The video shows the theories of none believers are false. which brings me to John 20:29 The Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." I have had debates with none believers in my past. When they stated they did not believe in Jesus let alone His resurrection because they cannot see Him. I ask them if they believe in the air we breath. They always say they believe in the air we breath. I than ask how can you believe in the air we breath if you cannot see it.
ReplyDelete2-Did it.
Alright Mike! I'd like to then ask them if they would like to experience what He can do for them. Just as the invisible air benefits them, far more Jesus. Then ask them to read the gospel of John. Those who refuse such, show their close mindedness.
DeleteMike, may the Holy Spirit so empower your life that you live before others that it compliments and displays credibility to the spiritual truths that you share with them.
Delete1. Thomas must have felt really awkward doubting Jesus' Resurrection and then actually seeing. him..Lets make sure that when we finally meet Jesus we will not feel as awkward as Thomas probably did. Regarding the video, it reminds me of those "who killed JFK conspiracy documentaries." where people try to debunk what the truth is.
ReplyDelete2.-Copy on your MP3 card John 20:27- "Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe."

Chuy, it's so good to see you following through on your commitment to get into God's Word daily and then sharing (blogging) what you got from it. As God has so much to show you, I pray you remain faithful with it.
DeleteExcellent Chuy! I like the way you stepped into the feelings of Thomas. That's very insightful of you!
Delete1.-Read that passage, John 20:26-31 and then share anything from it and/or today's video.
ReplyDeleteI see these first 3 theories to contradict the resurrection of Jesus Christ as being highly unreasonable. The explanations are just too incredible to be believed. But that may be how those who hold to these explanations must view the truth of Christ's resurrection. Christ's resurrection is so incredible. But from the advantage of seeing God's plans unfold throughout the entire scripture, the resurrection of Christ becomes like a piece of the puzzle that fits perfectly with what God has been revealing in His Word all along through history.

Astonishing and just amazing that are going to continue to argue, debate, exaggerate and refuse to accept Jesus as all God even if the Truth hit them in their face. It's a matter of faith and trust in which people don't want to fall into.
ReplyDeleteBrother Ismael, sad but true "Astonishing and just amazing that are going to continue to argue, debate, exaggerate and refuse to accept Jesus as all God even if the Truth hit them in their face." God bless you brother :-)
DeleteI'd second your words Ismael, but Robert already did :)

Brother Oscar, Yes! He has risen indeed :-)
DeleteYes indeed Oscar and way to hang tough despite the business of life!
Delete1.-Read that passage, John 20:26-31 and then share anything from it and/or today's video.
ReplyDeleteThe twin theory stood out as farfetched to me, I think for this to work Mary and Joseph would have to have been plotting something since Jesus’ birth. They would have had to hide Jesus’ twin for 30 years and in the end convince him to be crucified in Jesus place. If Jesus had a twin I think there would have been a lot of people to point it out when he was first resurrected.
2.-Did it
Brother George, "The twin theory stood out as farfetched to me". I'd laugh at it if it were not so sad to think that many will be lost for all eternity as a result of these fallacies. Keep up the good works :-)
DeleteSo right you are George! And the twin theory still doesn't explain away the miraculous appearances and disappearances of Jesus and them watching him ascend into heaven. Plus, something else we will cover soon.
Delete1) Simply I am amazed at the wisdom of God. When he set the stage for His Sons death He covered all his base's. Even the foolishness of God is too lofty for man. I am further amazed at all the unanswered questions these theories allow, it amazes me what people are willing to overlook in order not to see what offends them and brings them into accountability. The imagination and creativity that comes into rejecting the worlds life line is amazing. \
ReplyDelete2) Did it.
Brother Tony, well said "I am further amazed at all the unanswered questions these theories allow, it amazes me what people are willing to overlook in order not to see what offends them and brings them into accountability." God bless you brother :-)
DeleteYes Antonio. Believing the overwhelming evidence for the resurrection of Christ is much easier, but the rebellion of man would rather believe far fetched explanations, than bow before their savior and King. What a good reminder of how hardened my heart once was.
Delete1.Blessed are those who have not seen but believe. I guess that's referring to all of us that haven't seen Jesus. So we are blessed in believing in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and Messiah, and by believing in him we have eternal life. Help us Lord not to be like doubting Thomas. Help us to believe in all your promises, and thank you for becoming flesh for us and dying on the cross.
ReplyDelete2.Did it. John 20:27- "Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe."
How very blessed we are George! And I'm blessed to have you as my friend over all these years.
Delete1. I watched the video and read the scripture and realized those who don't believe are lost. All the theories stated are just out there. Their are no hard facts that he wasn't resurrected. Its really sad to see people disproof what is true. Sin overtakes and corrupts the mind. If you don't stay in his word and pray. You will start to lead on you own sinful understanding. I'm thankful for all gods done for us. Even tho we don't deserve it.
ReplyDelete2.Did it!
Brother James, I'm in agreement with you "I'm thankful for all Gods done for us. Even tho we don't deserve it." His mercies are never ending :-)
DeleteYou're doing awesome James. Proud of you brother. Continue to allow God to chisel you into that spiritual leader He has designed you to be.
DeleteYes indeed James. It's hard to find the light when thy're determined to search in the dark.
DeleteMy best response is that humanity has been looking at theories for the unexplainable since before Jesus. Even Pharaoh denied God at work through Moses. Our natural tendency is just the same at just a pivotal moment where doubt will creep in chocking away at the seed of faith. We wonder and question saying "is this really of God," instead of living boldly, trusting, and denying self.
ReplyDeleteDid it
Brother Gary, your posting "humanity has been looking at theories for the unexplainable since before Jesus." reminded me that even when God clearly speaks, we still tend to doubt because we can't fully wrap our minds around that which God has ordained. We'll have to catch up soon, God bless you brother :-)
DeleteGreat point Gary about how fallen man has always looking to explain away the miraculous. Evolutionists certainly fall in that big hole.
Delete1. Wow, those "theories" discussed in the video are ridiculous and far-fetched! The video itself was definitely an interesting watch. I particularly like how the man in the video explained, evaluated, and disproved the swoon theory in great detail. Needless to say, I'm very interested to see the next part of the video tomorrow.
ReplyDelete2. Did it.
Brother Alex, God has definitely created a hunger and thirst in you for His Word. Keep pressing into Him :-)
DeleteAlex, I echo what Robert said!
Delete1. The one thing that has always surprised me, is that, how could one of the disciples in John 1:26-29, NOT believe Jesus could Rise from the dead, after witnessing so many Awesome miracles, signs, and wonders. If these disciples did not believe, even though they sat under the direct teaching of Jesus for years, just imagine how easy it is for believers today to doubt the Bible and the deity of Christ. Oh God, help us continue to study your Word with a keen eye on historical, scientific, and prophetic evidences, proving in fact, the Bible is truly the Awesome Word of God!
ReplyDelete2. did it
Here's my understanding on this Israel. The disciples certainly were not expecting Messiah to die. They were longing for the Mighty Messiah prophesied, so such predictions sounded to them like figurative language. Twice in Luke's gospel, when Jesus had foretold of his coming betrayal (9:45), and being flogged and killed and yet would rise again on the third day (18:34), it says that the disciples did not understand. "It's meaning was hidden from them." I take it that this was perhaps in part from God. For after Jesus' resurrection it says, "Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures." 24:45. I think with the Spirit and the completion of the NT that there is only laziness or lack of interest to blame that a person would not know the truth on the reliability of the Bible and the deity of Christ.
DeleteBrother Israel, I have thought of that often as well "If these disciples did not believe, even though they sat under the direct teaching of Jesus for years, just imagine how easy it is for believers today to doubt the Bible and the deity of Christ." Great point :-)
