Wed.4.8.15...The 5 E's for the Resurrection of Christ

Lee Strobel was an award winning investigative journalist for the Chicago Sun Times. He was an atheist until he began investigating the the evidence for Christianity. On the following video clip, he shares the 5 E's of evidences for the resurrection of Jesus Christ. (This will summarize much of what we have been learning over the past few days on the resurrection of Christ.)

Please jot down his 5 E's of evidences and be ready to share at least one thing that struck you. Perhaps you'll want to put the 5 E's on the back of one of your MP3 cards, or where there is room to write in your Bible- perhaps the beginning of the book of Acts or at the end of your Bible. Write it down and review it, if you want to remember it. Old Chinese proverb say,"Weak ink is better than strong memory." Or as friend of mine said, "I'm smart enough to remember that I'm dumb enough to forget."

Lee's last point was the emergence of the Christian church, which was born on the day of Pentecost, only 50 days after Jesus was crucified and just 10 days after he was taken back up into heaven. It's revealed in the following passage of Scripture-

Let's read Acts 2:22-47. It's part of Peter's first message after Christ's resurrection and let's see how it relates to some of Lee's points. Be ready to share one thing that struck you.

By the way, did you notice what those new believers did in 2:42? "They devoted themselves to the apostles teaching and to the fellowship..." (to the fellowship of believers, to the team) This is what we are able to do via this blog. We are able to devote ourselves daily to the apostles teaching- the teachings of the Bible- and to devote ourselves daily to the fellowship, to the team.Way to go!

2.One of the five important E's was Eye Witnesses. So write on your MP3 card the following words of the apostle Peter, "God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of the fact." Acts 2:32. Then do the Did it.

Speaking of devoting ourselves to one another, I've seen some great encouragement occurring on the blog. But I've also noticed for those who blog late at night, they often don't get near as much. Also I've realized that we need some way to make sure newer and even older men on the team don't get ignored or fall through the cracks. For example, if a man doesn't blog, he obviously won't get any encouraging comments on the blog. The man who may need the most encouragement is sure not to get it on the blog. The danger of drifting away can easily begin. Ugh! We need a cure to this.

It would be so helpful if we could see at a glance who hasn't gotten any encouragement in a while. Then someone could happily shoot them an encouraging text, email or phone call. Thankfully, with your help, we've got a new idea and solution to this. And it takes less than a minute to use and score points for yourself that will get public commendation at our next meeting Sunday, April 26th. Simply go to our newly designed "Contacts" tab at the bottom of our scoreboard sheet. Put in your initials in the "today's date column" across from the name of the brother you reached out to via a phone call, text or email yesterday. (The only thing we won't include here is any encouragement we gave via the blog.) To make it all the faster, we'll just use initials for everything. You'll see helpful reminders at the top of the Contacts tab. So if I texted "Joe Doe" today, I'd put in today's column across from his name, my initials (dg) followed by the abbreviation for texted= tx. Thus, I'd simply put in the column dg/tx. Click over to the Scoreboard and Contacts and you'll see how easy this is. Alex, since you're at the top of the list, I used you as an example of one that I supposedly had a phone conversation with yesterday. (I owe you one :) Let's see how well we can make this work for the next week and a half until our next meeting. I want to get your feedback. I know it can seem like "one more thing," but I hope you find it instead to be a cool thing to really enable each and everyone one of us- Coaches and Pros to very effectively make sure no one is being neglected. I keep in touch with all of you regularly, so I will not be putting my name up there. I want to see who else is reaching out via phone calls, texts, emails or even face to face get togethers.

Speaking of Get Togethers, you are invited to come over to mi casa this Sunday evening to watch AD on the big screen TV I won. It starts at 8 PM, so come over between 7:30 and 8:00.
