Th.4.23.15...The Islamic Dilemma

What about Islam?

The religion of Islam has certainly gotten a lot of attention, especially since 9/11. As with any religion, there are many beliefs that it teaches- far more than this short blog could cover. So here's a short, respectful presentation dealing with a major dilemma in the Koran. (Finding video clips on Islam that are short, well done, and respectful was much harder than I thought. There are several that are to the contrary.) Let's be clear. Good videos are not going to convert those who are hardened to the truth. But they can help us better understand the truth, and can help those whom God has been softening. So if you have Muslim acquaintances, perhaps this video may help to awaken them to the truth.

No matter what religion a person may claim, they still need the same gospel. You don't need to become an expert in what they believe, you just need to point them to the truth. So once again, use our same three questions with Muslims you know, when the opportunity arises.
-What led you to believe that? - to believe in Islam as your religion?
-Would you consider yourself to be a person who wants the truth?
-Then would you please read through the gospel of John and follow the truth wherever it leads you?

Interesting Insight: Just as there are many denominations within Christianity, there are over 70 sects of Islam. That is why you will find Muslims, especially in the U.S., who sincerely believe Islam is a religion of peace. That is what their sect teaches. Yet many others overseas are taught that they must advance Islam by all means possible, including Jihad.

1.-Read John 1:19-34 and share one thing that stood out to you from that passage and or the video.

2.-Write on your MP3 card, "Look, the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world." John 1:29

In Islam, and for that matter, in all other religions, man must somehow make up for his sins with enough good works. But who knows if one has ever done enough? Such people need to know the lamb of God who takes away their sins. Thank You Lord for doing that for us!

  1. 1. Once again a very good video to pass on to a muslim since it uses the koran itself to prove that the Bible is the Word of God.
Like in Catholicism, the muslim is not encouraged to read the koran otherwise they would find these big contradictions between what they are taught and what the koran says.
I am so thankful that we have the true Word of God that has the power to change even the most hardened of hearts and transform a person from the darkness of this world to the light that Jesus brings.
John 1:29 "The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!"

Today's Bible reading was excellent many of the Jews thought that John was the Messiah or prophet. What a great job he did pointing them to Christ Jesus.
John the Baptist came before Christ. He was trying to prepare the way for Christ to let the people know that the Messiah was coming.I think we should all do the same for the Lord's second coming.

    1. Good point George. How do you even conceive that a god wants you to murder someone to follow him.

    2. Scary George to see that people go to such extremes to force their beliefs on others. Thank you Lord for your love and our free will!

  4. The Quran clearly points to the Gospel. They need to read their own scripture, which will lead them to Jesus Christ. The bible has and is the Gospel. The bible has no mentioned of the Quran, only mentions to watch out for false prophets. Let the truth set them free. May they be baptized with the Holy Spirit.

John 1:33 And I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, ‘The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’

Thank you Dave, another good video giving some perspective of the Islam Koran. Very contradicting teachings, they say their God and Our God is one and the same and to him we submit, also that "Gospel" is authoritative of Christians and Muslims and that Quran searches in scripture the true authoritative word. Yet they say bible is corrupted and Our God and the Bible is false. All I know is that truth is infallible and incorruptible as the Bible is. Isaiah 45:19 " I have not spoken in secret, from somewhere in the land of darkness; I have not said to Jacob's descendants, 'Seek me in vain.' I, the Lord, speak the truth; I declare what is right." This declaration passage sticks out to me. Jn.1:51 Jesus said, "Very truly I tell you, you will see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man." We mankind will now have access to God through our Lord Savior Jesus Christ, a spiritual awaking and awareness.

  7. John 1:23 John replied in the words of Isaiah the prophet, "I am the voice of one calling in the wilderness, make straight the way for the Lord."

It fascinates me that the Quran confirms the authority of the Bible yet Islam denies it. Islam contradicts there own scripture.
    Islam is false!

  8. 1) In the video what stands out to me is the clear contradictions that at least the scholar have to see. Maybe the average Muslim may not see the evidence and know how to string them together to see that their thought system fights itself. I suppose they would go to their commentaries and try to make sense of what seems like nonsense hoping their teaching elite would shed light and revive their faith. I guess it boils down to do they truth or long winded theories to patch the holes in their flawed system. I know oxymorons exist in our faith but I would rather say I don't know, over making up fairy tales to have an answer.

    1. Amen Antonio. That was a good point. I liked when you stated you don't like fairy tales to have an answer. If the answer is not from God which can be found in the bible the answer is probably a fairy tale.

  9. The video just re-insures that the bible is the word of God and anything other book is the word of man. Unfortunately people listen to what their family has taught for years. It takes people of God to plant the seed and be patient and let God cultivate the seed.

As for the verses we read John 1:23 states"John replied in the words of Isaiah the prophet, "I an the voice of one calling in the desert, make straight the way for the Lord." That's what we are called to do. Be a light for the Lord and shine.

  10. The whole video was very interesting especially because one of my cousins had converted to Muslim a few years ago. I have even trying get him alone and speak to him and ask him why? This video will also help me in the conversation as well.

This is the one I meant when I said, ‘A man who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’ (‭John‬ ‭1‬:‭30‬ NIV)

What a witness John the Baptist was of Jesus. He revealed His mission by declaring that Jesus was the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. He declared His nature by clearly stating that Jesus is the Son of God. John hinted of Jesus' eternity (He who came after him was before him) And John testified of Jesus' special anointing from God having witnessed the Holy Spirit descending like a dove upon Jesus. And this was before Jesus did any healing or miracles. What a powerful introduction John gave for Jesus' ministry.

  14. This one strikes me... John 1:25-26 NIV

questioned him, “Why then do you baptize if you are not the Messiah, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?” “I baptize with water,” John replied, “but among you stands one you do not know.
Because Truth, Life of everlasting life, the giver would be in front of them but so hidden in their own ways that they would not perceive it nor receive Jesus as Lord our God. Also reminds me of us, that we can be so hardened in our lives that we miss out the splendor of his mercy and grace. Thank your Lord for softening my heart and soaking your truth like a songe.

  15. 1. Islam's Quran and is misleading bto many--the Christian bible is the true word of God and if they truly read the Quran it will lead them to believe in our bible. We must continue to plant seeds and lead thm to Jesus.

Dave, thanks for another good video. It’s interesting how other religions point to the Gospel but when a parts doesn't fit their believe they say it was corrupted by man.

John 1:27 – “He is the one who comes after me, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie.” None of us are worthy but I’m glad that God gives us his grace.

  17. Once again the prevailing factor as we have come across many times this week is moving away from scripture. Even while the Bible is the most authoritative of God's word other items derive from it. And for individuals to misalign their own text to speak something totally different than what is written concludes a lie. However in total wisdom is only dispensed from God.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever! (‭Psalm‬ ‭111‬:‭10‬ ESV)

  18. The video is very good. I thought it was very interesting that the Quran actually affirms the Bible (resulting in the Quran disproving itself in the process). This will be fun to share!

This is my favorite verse from the reading (which also happens to be the MP3 verse): "The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!"

  19. Good morning everyone sorry miss the blog but what I liked about John Chapter 1 is verse: John 1:23

John replied in the words of Isaiah the prophet, “I am the voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way for the Lord"
He is actually quoting from Isaiah the Prophet which if the Pharisees believed or trusted in Isaiah then they should have not question John for what he has seen. But should have, could have is never enough I guess.
When it comes to the video, I am ignorant but more informed now than ever, thanks Dave for the video. I did not know that the Quran is so confusing and contradictory to its self and if it specifies to check with others that believe, then why so much anger and fear and rejections for the word? I just don't have much to say on that topic. Just hope it was different.

talk to a Muslim before he said that his Quran and are Bible just about same they both
have same name's and people in them we believe so different from each other because
we believe in the true light of Jesus Christ being the Son of God. I think that is the big difference.

  23. Great video. I never really understood what Islam was. I thank God that the bible is the truth. Islam say to seek the bible. The bible doesn't need another book to prove it. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. I feel I need to point people to Jesus. He the way to heaven

  24. 24 (Now they had been sent from the Pharisees.)
25 They asked him, "Then why are you baptizing, if you are neither the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?"
26 John answered them, "I baptize with water, but among you stands one you do not know,
27 even he who comes after me, the strap of whose sandal I am not worthy to untie."
28 These things took place in Bethany across the Jordan, where John was baptizing. - John 1:24-28

We all are here to pass on gods word and we have to be humble so that we can reach many more men and not judge but help. John the Baptist was doing what God told him to do he didn't take on anything bigger than what Gods purpose was for him. We too have to find out purpose and pass it on to others what God has chosen us to do.
