Jesus has
been teaching us a more excellent way to pray using the pattern of the Lord’s
prayer. It begins by focusing on God- His praise and his priorities. So we began
by praising God as our Father and honoring his holy name. Then we aligned
ourselves to God’s priorities- seeking first his kingdom and his will to be
done in our lives. It is after this that our glorious King graciously invites us to present
our requests before him. He is happy to hear even our requests for daily bread.
It is our daily bread- our physical needs that so often people worry about. Jesus seems to almost gently
laugh at the thought of worrying about food and clothing (Read Mt.6:25-34). He
had just taught us to pray to our Father in heaven who is so great. We saw he
is so amazing that 900 different names and titles are showered upon him in Scripture. So how silly to worry about food and clothing. He is our devoted Father. We are to “seek first the
kingdom of God.” The appropriate way to pray about any such earthly concerns
is given to us by Paul, “Don't worry about
anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him
for all he has done.” Phil.4:6 NLT. (Worry and worship don’t fellowship
together.) It’s interesting to note how little ink
Paul gave to praying for others' physical needs. But he certainly wrote a lot
about praying for the spiritual needs and growth of others.
1.- Click the following link and you’ll
see a very helpful arrangement of Paul’s prayers. http://www.regent.edu/lib/research/divinity/divinity-paul.pdf
Pick out one that you’d like to use when praying for others. Please share that with us now. Feel free to use another translation or paraphrase it. And if you wish, share anything that you especially liked about it.
Pick out one that you’d like to use when praying for others. Please share that with us now. Feel free to use another translation or paraphrase it. And if you wish, share anything that you especially liked about it.
2. Write the most important part of
that verse on your 3x5 and then do the “Did it.” As you look over that powerful
prayer you picked, please pray it for your loved ones, teammates and your
future protégés. One day you can look at them and say, “I’ve been praying for
you before I even met you!”
Yes, the Lord invites us to pray about
our daily bread- the physical provisions that we need for food, clothing and
health needs. But now you are armed with a powerful prayer to help others
spiritually. This seems to be far more important in God’s priorities. When
praying, I don’t always know what to pray- does God want to miraculously heal
this elderly person? But I always know that God wants to improve their
spiritual health. Speaking of which, do you ever wish you had a guide for praying more significantly for the spiritual health of your family? Then pray for your FAMILY members that they would be Faithful with A+Attitudes, that they would become Mature in character, that they would be Influencers for the kingdom, Loving and Yoked to good spouses.
I’m so glad God is giving you such
great daily bread from his word. Feel free to share it with others. I had a
friend from seminary days who would ask me, “Got any fresh bread?” Yes, you and I
do- hot out of the oven of Scripture today.
Special Announcements!
Give a special shout out to Vince Diaz, your newest M3 teammate and to Daniel for inviting him to join up. Vince was raised in a pastor's family and has served the Lord for quite a while, but he had never taken the step of believers baptism. So Daniel helped Vince go through the Blue Book to baptism just a couple weeks ago. Welcome aboard Vince!
Tomorrow, we will focus on the most important event of history- D Day- Deliverance Day- when the Deliverer came and began to retake earth from the enemy. "Thank you Lord that you would rescue us and then involve us in this great, manly battle."
Christmas will be a day of rest from the blog. But would you take the time over the next few days to help me help you? I'd like to create a powerful tool to help you recruit other coach quality men. So would you write a few lines about what you like about M3? From what I've been hearing back from several of you, I think your words will be very influential. I'll gather them all together and put it on one doc that you can share with others. It would be best if we could get our new men on board by the end of the month. I also want to share your testimonies in upcoming Prayer Partners weekly updates. (Please get me the names and email addresses of your prayer partners by Dec.29th.) You can simply post your testimony on any of our blogs over the next few days. Thanks!
Notice below that our GREAT scoreboard now shows a new letter filled in- T for new Team members you have recruited. Wow, Daniel recruited Vince and Jack had already recruited Daniel to begin with. That makes Jack a grandpa of sorts already! Men, this is firstfruits of what will happen for each of you as we focus on multiplying MANLY men! This is the fastest time for such to occur as we focus on recruiting other coach quality men for the next few weeks. Call your prospects up and let me know how I can help you. Some wanted clarification: If you recruit men who are even more mature than you are, relax- it doesn't mean you will be mentoring them. They will be coaches in training as well. It does mean that if they don't drop out, they will be credited to your family tree as you see below.
Congratulations!

This Sunday- 2-5pm is the Open House at my house. Talk to your loved ones about coming. Hope you can drop by.
1.- Eph 6:9 Lord I thank you for our group that you have brought together under the guidance of Dave, may you give us the words to speak when in obedience to you we are proclaiming the gospel. That we would be able to clearly declare to others that you loved all of us so much that you sent your son Jesus to die for our sins so that if we put our trust in you we may also be considered part of your family. Thank you Lord for your love.
ReplyDelete2.- Did it
Nice work Roger. Covering you today brother.
Delete1. Rooted- established deeply and firmly. Established- having been in existence for a long time and therefore recognized and generally accepted. May we be men established and rooted in a deep, recognizable love, so that we may know of His love, be built up in His love and share His love with the ones He loves.
ReplyDelete2. Did it.
Welcome Vince. Glad to have you on the team and excited to hear more of your heart. Blessings brothers!
Sorry here is the verse I chose. Eph. 3:17b-19 (NIV) "And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power...to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge...."
DeleteGreat verse and heart you have Eddie! So glad you're my brother, fellow warrior and friend.
Delete-- Eph. 1:18 "I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you may know
ReplyDeletewhat is the hope of His calling…." It great to know that GOD is always there and all knowing. Nothing shocks him. God plans is not to hurt us but to give us a hope and a future like it says in the book of Jeremiah. Thanks for accepting me into this great group. Am excited for the mission.
GOD BLESS
Vince, welcome Brother to M3 . Enjoy the ride
DeleteGood verse and insight
A good beginning already Vince and a great future awaits you. So glad you're with us!
DeleteWelcome Vince! Excited for what The Lord has in store for you!! See you and Eddie at noon!
ReplyDelete1. Philippians 1:9-11 " And this is my prayer: That your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ--to the glory and praise of God."
ReplyDeleteI like all of this passage, but most of all because I will pray for their love to grow for God and each other, and that they take the word deep in their hearts so they can discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for God's final day of reckoning with us. He will receive all who have faith in him and have trusted in him.

Anxious to see what God brings us tomorrow to share Brothers
What a great passage Jack. Diane and I memorized it in our dating days and put a personalized version of it on our wedding invitations- "And this is our prayer: that our love may abound more and more..."
DeleteGlad you're excited about tomorrow. So am I!
1 -2. I chose to put Romans 15:5-6 in my phone.
ReplyDelete5 May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, 6 so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1-2. Thank You God for giving me endurance and encouragement to lead my family. I thank You for my family and band of brothers, may we continue to glorify You with one voice and one mind.
Welcome aboard Vince. It is great to see us grow. Great job Daniel, it is great how you have grown as a follower of Christ. It has been encouraging and a pleasure to be part of your walk with God.
Wonderful passage and prayer Sam! Phileo, dave
DeleteI picked D. OF THE HOPE OF HIS CALLING:
ReplyDelete-- Eph. 1:18 "I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you may know
what is the hope of His calling…."
This Verse touched me in the way that I pray to God and about my walk. Therefore I will pray into others so He will show them the way and the hope that comes from Him.
Did it.
As for your request, I know this Manly Men group has helped me stay more focus on God and others. It helps me read more and think more of what God wants of me and others.
Thanks Mike! I am reading your prayer verse and the ones of the other men on my knees back to God. What a gold mine of prayers we have here!
DeleteLord today I ask you to help me to pray as you would have me to pray; being mindful that the daily sustenance is all from you and desiring prayer instead of worry or complaining.
ReplyDeleteESV -- 1 Thes. 3:12 "and may the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, as we do for you," v 13 "so that he may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints."
Did it:
It is a helpful reminder that our love for each other and the people around us comes from God himself and that we are directed to pray for the increase in love. I see it in the way that our lives are to resemble Christ's life, that he loved to the fullest.
Beautiful Gary! Great words- ...we are directed to pray for the increase in love. I see it in the way that our lives are to resemble Christ's life, that he loved to the fullest.
DeleteGary, Your Heavenly Father is so eager, willing and able to answer such a prayer request. Like you I would rather be a prayer warrior rather then a worrier.
DeleteHow convenient to have all these powerful, scriptural prays close at hand to help us to efficiently and effectively pray for others.
ReplyDelete1) I chose -- Phil. 1:9 (Grow in Love) "And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and discernment…."
Paraphrased:
I pray that God's deep love for you will so fill your heart to overflowing that you will be able to multiply it over and over as you share that same love with all those around you.
Jesus said in John 13:35 “ By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
Francis Schaeffer called Christians loving one another “The Mark of a Christian”.
Loving Father, help us men to let your immense love flow through us to fill the hearts of our families and all those around us.
2) Did it
Great words Dave on the greatest Christlike quality we can reflect- love. Love is the greatest.

ReplyDelete2 Thes. 3:16 "Now may the Lord of peace Himself continually grant you peace in every circumstance."
Enduring and persistent peace is available to us, straight from the source

Q
Very good prayer passage on peace Daniel. I prayed too for you, myself and us all.
Delete1. Romans 15:5-6: Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus; that with one accord you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!
ReplyDeleteI can not help but be reminded that there is one church of The Lord Jesus Christ and during such troubling times socially within our Nation and throughout the world there seems to be increase in division and hostility. It is my firm believe that a diverse and united church can lead the way in not simply racial reconciliation ( we've all apologized enough) but in a radical racial redemption that only the power of Jesus can bring about.
2. Did it!
Yes indeed Alvin. I agree. Apologies have their place, but God's radically redeemed can show the world so much more- a multi-ethnic family with one voice glorifying God and enjoying each others company. Speaking of company, sure hope you can come on over Sunday.
DeleteI agree Alvin, I believe that God is a God of reconciliation. I am looking forward to meeting you in person soon :)
Delete1. - Eph. 1:17 (NIV) "I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation so that you may know Him better…." -- The more I study the scriptures and learn about Christ, our God and model, the more I want to learn about Him personally and the more I want to be like Him, to have the very characteristics of Christ :) Wow, knowing Christ has changed my life :)

3. Yesterday, I was just sharing with Daniel what I love about this M3 Manly Group, and I will share it with the other men. As all of you men already know, we live in a culture and time when men are constantly "feminized and emasculated" for our roles as leaders of the family and the church.
I was never a military man myself, even though I have several family members that were. The military and warrior language of M3, and especially the Bible Verses that we have been studying have really helped me to understand, that we are truly in a WAR for the kingdom of God and for our loved ones in our lives. I sincerely believe that many of these verses are strictly geared toward men to suit up and prepare for battle, kind of like Nehemiah 4:14 when he told the Jews the following, " After I looked things over, I stood up and said to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people, “Don’t be afraid of them (the enemy). Remember the Lord, who is Great and Awesome, and fight for your families, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.” This reminds me of a scene out of the movie "Braveheart." We may not be fighting physically, but we are in a real Spiritual Battle and War for our families, friends, fellow brothers and sisters in the Lord, and this great Nation of ours!
All of the verses in these blog posts have really awaken me more than ever, to the truth, that we are in a WAR !! A spiritual war, that needs us men to put on the full armor of God, confront the enemy and to lead in Jesus name, saturated and covered in prayer, but also practicing and teaching God's Word at any cost!! I Love this Band of Brothers!
Awesome word Israel!
DeleteAmen! Thank you for sharing, your words build me up!.
ReplyDeleteI chose..Colossians 1:9-10 NIV
ReplyDeleteFor this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,
Wow just seems so fitting what M3 is about!!
Also the burden Dave has and the will that God is giving is you *Dave...
And I pray this for all of us so that on the return of our Christ, He might say "Well done my good and faithful servant"!
Did it.
FOR STRENGTHENING:
ReplyDelete-- Eph. 3:16-17 (NIV) "I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power
through His Spirit in your inner being so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith."
-- Col. 1:10-11 (NIV) "And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the
Lord...being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience...."
-- 1 Thes. 3:13 (NIV) "May He strengthen your hearts so that you will be blameless and holy in the presence of our God...."
-- 2 Thes. 2:16 "Now may our Lord Jesus Christ and God our Father comfort and strengthen your hearts in every good work and word."
DID IT
I LIKED ALL OFF THESE!!!!
they are really what I needed to hear. I find myself seeking strength and desiring to pray from scripture. These verses help when I pray them they sink in
Excellent John! I kept reading them over and over. These four verses together make it clear that there is a greater work the Lord wants to do in our hearts, our inner beings, that is dependent upon praying that God would strengthen us to that end. An old quote regarding prayer by Peter Dynaka comes to mind, "Much prayer, much power." I've told my kids before when I've gone out on prayer walks, "I'm going out to fetch power." John, we've got to make sure every man has at least a couple of prayer warriors. We are not playing church here. We are preparing to invade enemy territory. I don't know if you'll see this comment or not. Please text me "Got it" if you see this. Thanks!
