Wed.2.11.15...Being a Godly MENTOR...Encourage part 8

Earlier we learned that the prime qualification of an elder (coach) is Christlike character. He needs to be a godly model or example because more is caught than taught. But he does have to also communicate the truth. Why? Paul explains- “He (the elder) must have a strong belief in the trustworthy message he was taught; then he will be able to encourage others with wholesome teaching and show those who oppose it where they are wrong.” Titus 1:9 NLT.

How can we encourage others with wholesome teaching (aka sound doctrine)? Paul gives a great example of this when dealing with the deaths of fellow believers. “Brothers, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words.” 1 Th.4:13-18. This is the classic passage regarding the rapture. But notice the reason Paul wrote this. It wasn’t to give them a position paper or chart on eschatology (end time events). 

Paul wrote on the rapture to give comfort or encouragement to grieving believers. That’s using sound doctrine to encourage others.

1a.-G--Let’s discover how we could encourage one another via sound doctrine. Read Eph.1:3-8 and pick out one of many great truths within it. Use that truth as the basis of a short prayer of encouragement and post it for the brother above you on the blog. (For example, we were doing John 3:16, I might write, “I pray that you might be encouraged by the God who loves you so much that he gave up his only Son to have you in his forever family.”)

1b.- Include the truth you picked from within Eph.1:3-8 on your MP3 card. Then do the Did it.

Even most Christian men are lone strangers who are starving for encouragement. If only they could experience what we've got here in this band of brothers. This alone is worth telling others about.

To make it easy, we'll simply give a point for each item. God's word Yes =1 point. Righting a wrong= 1 point (so you want big sinners on your team now:) Encouragement= points for each team member you encouraged apart from encouragement you gave on  the blog. I want us to get in the habit of contacting others apart from the blog. Not only is it another avenue of expressing encouragement and hopefully bonding all the more. It will be crucial for when our proteges join us soon.

Speaking of Pros, you can also give yourself credit on #3.-E for Encouragement if you talked to a brother about joining M3. Remember, recruiting 2 proteges is necessary to graduate from M3 along with 3 months of being Unstoppable. You can do this! God made you to multiply and is eager to help you, and so am I. Plus, you've got prayer warriors praying for you. You will succeed. Keep sowing good seeds and in due time you will reap. The more seeds you sow and the more you water those seeds, the greater your harvest.
