Tues.7.7.15...How's Your Vision?...Prov.29:15-27

Where there is no vision the people perish..." Prov.29:18 KJV

In the Bible, prophets received visions or revelations from God and would then proclaim those oracles to the people. If it wasn't for the fact that those heavenly messages were revealed, the people would go astray and perish in their sins. Look at the condition of people today; they desperately need to heed God's vision or revelation recorded in His word for them. Where there is no vision, the people perish. Of course the greatest revelation of God's love and will for his people was when God's word became flesh and dwelt among. "The word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth" John 1:14. Though we personally weren't there to see his glory, one day we will see Jesus our Lord face to face. That vision will utterly transform us! "We know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is" 1 John 3:2. That vision will finally and completely transform us. We shall be like him, not that we will become divine, but we will be without sin. Anybody else looking forward to seeing that vision?! When we see Him, He also will "transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body" Phil.3:21. If this revelation had not been written down for us, you could accuse me of making up things too good to be true. But we do have such a glorious future awaiting us. "When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory" Col.3:4.

So how should we then live, since we have been given this "out of this world" vision of our future? The very next verses of each of the last three verses cited reveals that to us also. "Everyone who has this hope in him [this confident expectation of Christ's return] purifies himself, just as He is pure" 1 John 3:3. Would you be getting your white tux dirty just before your wedding day? Of course not. So what should we do? "Put to death therefore whatever belongs to your earthly nature, sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry" Col.3:5. By living a life of death to sin and devotion to Christ and his people, Paul says, "that is how you should stand firm in the Lord" Phil.4:1.

We need to keep that vision of our future before us. Without it, we can easily lose focus. If we lose sight of Christ's death, resurrection and return for us, we can degenerate to low level living, and the vision of our glorious future becomes clouded over. Then our mission/message that we've been given can easily become sidelined. To prevent that, many churches have mission statements. They know they need to keep God's vision and their mission for reaching perishing people before their people's eyes. Did you here about the church that had their vision statement on a sign above the church? It was our verse of vision today- "Where there is no vision the people perish." Unfortunately, a windstorm came through and blew off the first letter of the first word, revealing the truth about many churches- "_here there is no vision, the people perish." Most Christians don't have a vision or mission for their lives, so their own lives shrivel and the people around them perish. But we do have a compelling vision- to see men become MANLY or Christlike men. And you know your mission. It's to multiply MANLY men. Men who are-
Mature in character- Power HOUSE men. I pray daily that we would be such and that the Lord would give you such men- Hungry, Obedient, Unstoppable, Strong in the Lord, Encouraging.
Active in mentoring- I look at our GREAT scoreboard and I see men who are very active in mentoring. Way to grow!
Noble in battle- We WAR to live lives Worthy of God, to Activate the sidelined saints and to Release the locked up lost.
Loving in relationships- Without love for our family and those around us we are nothing.
Yoked to Christ and a band of brothers. We are devoted to one another in brotherly love.

We keep this vision and mission before us. We just reviewed it. The vision statement is the picture of what we want to see- MANLY Men. The mission statement is what we will do to achieve that vision- enlist, exemplify, equip and encourage men to mature and multiply. In World War II, we had a vision to see people free from Hilter's tyranny. To achieve that vision, we embarked on a daring mission- to break through Hitler's North Atlantic wall, via the Normandy invasion and fight all the way to Hitler's doorstep in Berlin, Germany to defeat them. But that great mission required one other element- better training, troops, supplies and strategy than the renowned German army had. We had it and so we won. I'm proud to say that my dad was part of that liberating army. Though he didn't enter on the shores of Normandy, he served heroically. Those soldiers had a great crusade or mission which they trained much for.

We also have a great mission and battle to fight. I too have great confidence in your courage, devotion to duty and skill in battle. The daily blog and scoreboard prove that you are armed and dangerous. Just look at how well you and your teammates are scoring each day. That reveals a lot about how your faith is being lived out. As you know, not every man we seek to recruit is up to this. Some do not share the vision that you do. They would rather watch television. Others may start but drop out. Being Christ's disciple takes discipline. But as with Paul, I rejoice "to see your good discipline and the stability of your faith in Christ" Col.2:5. Others aren't willing to be unstoppable. Excuses come much easier than excellence. But I see such excellent progress in you. You are striving to advance God's kingdom. You are from the nation of determination, not procrastination. You are keeping the mission in your focus- of multiplying MANLY men. Continue you on and you will hear Him say, "Well done, good and faithful servant! Enter into the joy of your master." That is a vision well worth focusing on.

1.- At the heart of our mission, Christ's great co-mission, is to share the good news with others. It's been so good to read your stories of opportunities you've taken to share our Greatest Mini-movies cards. Please share any stories since 10 days ago when I last asked about such. Thanks!

I like to go to cemeteries where it's dead quiet and I can pray my heart out. Recently, I met three Marines who were there to present the flag to a fallen veteran. After thanking them for their service, I shared about you soldiers in M3 whom I am so proud of. I also gave each of them a Greatest Mini-movies card which they thanked me for. So have cards with you. I keep extras in my wallet and car. You never know when you may meet people to give our cards to- even in a cemetery.

2.- Read Prov.29:15-27 and write out the verse you picked and some of your thoughts regarding it. Bless you for continuing to share what you've gleaned with others.

Announcements
See you this Sunday at our M3 meeting. It will be at 11:30 in the Break Room.

  1. 1. I have presented cards to a Christian man in Springfield Missouri who wants to present it to his church so we are extending beyond city, state. And even country walls with our great mission. I also am working on getting other NL Pastors to jump on our band wagon

2."Many seek an audience with a ruler, but it is from the Lord that one gets justice." Proverbs 29:26 I have watched people of the world suck up to lower level bosses instead of the highest who calls all the shots and things get misconstrued through channels. So we need to go directly to the source-- to the Lord for direction and favor as he is the only favor I seek!
His justice is always fair and righteous.

  2. 1- I forgot what day it was but it was one of my last days at my old job. A man came wanting to enter the building. We are not supposed to let anyone in without a membership. I told the guy "I cant let you in but if you'd like I can walk with you to see if you can spot your friend you're looking for". He agreed, we walked and talked a bit. He was telling me that the night before he was riding his bike and a car hit him and he landed in the hospital and had just gotten out that morning. So we talked a bit more and as we were making our way back to the exit I offered him a card. He was pretty excited about the fact that it said greatest mini movies. I hope he had a chance to watch them.

    2-Proverbs 29:22
An angry person stirs up conflict, and a hot-tempered person commits many sins.

At times I need to remind myself when I'm angry or upset to take a minute, possibly even take a day until I cool off to avoid doing or saying something that I might regret later.

  3. 1. Recently I did a hospital visit to a young man from our church. I brought him a greeting card filled with MP3 cards of encouraging verses and the M3 card. Because of the situation that he is going through, I believe he needs a lot of encouragement. But even in the midst of the difficult situation, he was praising the Lord. His attitude and approach encouraged me.

    2. Prov.29:25 Fear of man will prove to be a snare,
but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.

I want to have a heart similar to David when it comes to loving and trusting in the LORD. Not like Saul, who sought the approval of men and lived with partial obedience. At the end of the day both men have sinned and fell short, but Saul definitely was ensnared by pride and pleasing man, which led to his downfall. David fell hard but he owned up and repented and understood that God's more concerned with our internal appearance. Man looks at the outer appearance, but God looks at the inward. God is not looking for us to make sacrifices or do things that make us look for religious on the outside, he is looking for us to have a broken and contrite heart that completely trust in Him. For He uses broken vessels!

    2. Proverbs 29:15 (NIV) A rod and a reprimand impart wisdom, but a child left undisciplined disgraces its mother.

I am not a big fan of discipline but I do it for their benefit. I do not let my children disrespect my wife. I think my wife is too soft on them sometimes and they get away with things. If I take their electronics away, they usually learn their lesson. They are getting too old for the belt.

  5. Proverbs 29:23 "Pride brings a person low, but the lowly in spirit gain honor." Pride is a sin that I struggle with. I have always been very independent. Even as a very young child, my parents tell I was always finding something to do that did not required the help of others. I have grown up knowing that I am capable of solving most of my problems and overcoming challenges that present themselves on my own. I give God the praise and glory for the abilities He has blessed me with, but there are times (like most recently), when my ability has created pride in me and that pride has turned into arrogance. It is easy to lose sight of the origin of all that we are capable of when life is going our way and we feel a sense of control over our situation, but that sense control is only an illusion. It is by God's grace alone that I am capable of anything. I possess the mind, strength, and ability that I do because He has blessed me thus, and he has blessed me so abundantly for a reason. That reason certainly isn't for me to think myself capable independent of God.

I am frustrated by what I see each day...frustrated by what I perceive to be a lack of justice. How can people who mistreat their children or do not provide for them be blessed with children? How can people who do so little or who profit from illegal activities enjoy such plentiful lives? When I get to thinking like this, it is my pride talking. Who am I to question why God has chosen to bless this person with such, or that person with that? Why do I feel justified to protest God's will when I have been so abundantly blessed myself? I need to discipline myself to lower myself, not raise myself up. I need to learn humility before I can truly surrender to God's will. I need to stop focusing on what others have, and pay more attention to what I have been blessed with and what I lack that keeps me from a sincere relationship with God.

  7. 1 Unfortunately I don't have any cards, but I have talked with a couple of guys about M3. One has contacted me after checking out the website and I'll be meeting with the other in a couple of days.

2 Proverbs 29:20 Do you see a man who is hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him. There were times, and sometimes, just not as often, that I wish I was as quick witted as others. You know what I'm talking about, maybe you're one of them, those people that always have a quick response in a conversation. I have always been one to think about what was said and what I wanted to say before I spoke. There were times I thought less of myself because of it, after all, their quick responses weren't always foolishness. Unfortunately, most of the time I regret saying what I said if I don't think first. So I take my time.

2 – Proverbs 29:17 Discipline your children, and they will give you peace of mind and will make your heart glad. This verse makes me think of kids running around a store not listening to their parents. Reading it I'm reminded of how lucky I am, when my son is with his friends families and we hear that he was well behaved. Not that we expect issues but it’s one of those things that's in the back of my mind. It also makes me think of my own discipline, am I acting in a way to make God’s heart glad?

Getting angry does stir conflict but I think its normal to angry. It the way you handle it. It then says a hot tempered person commits many sins which is true and that is not okay. When getting angry, either resolve peacefully or walk away to cool off.

  18. 1) I was able to give out two Greatest Mini Video cards this past week. One was to the 3rd shift team leader at work. We were working an a small project together before he went home. He's a serious Catholic. I told him that I knew he was serious about his belief in God that the greatest mini videos could help draw closer with God. He said that he would check it out. The other card was to a worker friend of two of my children. The kids invited him over to our home for the Forth of July. He's been reading the Bible and has gone to the Bible study at New Life with my girls a few times. We talked as I gave him a ride to his home. I told him I had something for him and gave him the card. I told him that the videos would help his understanding of the Bible and that I'd like to know what he thought of the videos.

    2) Proverbs 29:25 > Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.

A debilitating fear of what others think about us can snag and prevent us from obeying Christ and full filling His great commission. Fear of man can become a barrier that prevents us from reaching out to the people around us who are blind and ignorant of an eternal doom they are heading for. But if despite our fear of what man thinks of us, if we still push through to trust in the Lord, and His power, His guidance, His Spirit and His message we will successfully complete our orders and our mission. We will come to great joy as God uses us to rescue some for eternal happiness.

26 Many look for the ruler’s favor, but what is right and fair comes from the Lord.

  21. 1. This Sunday was my first time ever in life that i went up to the alter and prayed over another guy. I must admit i was nervous but i had a strong desire to do this and i prayed the whole way up there. It went pretty good and i felt good about it. Afterwards i gave him a "greatestminimovies" card and wrote my phone number on it and told him to check out some powerful videos and to feel free to call me anytime.

  22. I recall just this weekend while I was catching up with one of my cousins while out of town and we were discussing the whole a to z of relationships between each other who we are involved with and the rest of family and I really credited that God had changed my perspective on staying connected and not doing things like the past where we would be as disconnected as possible until a life event or when someone passed away. I told him I was totally intent on being a cycle breaker and dedicating toward living a different life in Christ. He was very gracious toward what is said without negativity; so I look forward to more conversations as we go along

I was looking at verse 29:18 today and it follows very clearly with the topic today. Prophetic vision is that which God gives and dedicates one’s life as a totally new direction.

  23. 1) I haven't gotten any cards yet. I'll need to get some at the Meeting on Sunday.

    2) Proverbs 29:26 "Many seek the ruler’s favor, But justice for man comes from the LORD."

I think it is sufficient to answer with another verse:

Proverbs 21:1 "The king's heart is like channels of water in the hand of the LORD; He turns it wherever He wishes."

Do you see a man who speaks too soon? There is more hope for a fool than for him.
This one has great rewards in relationships especially marriage. Listen not only to the words but to the message, the tone, the body language, ask questions not only for clarity but for confirmation, finally respond with words that reflect the outcome you desire...

  25. 1: I honestly didn't get around to giving out any cards, there has just been so much going on with my family. I don't even know where my cards are. My mind has just been all over the place, but with things starting to look up again I'll definitely get around to getting some out. Where can I get some before Sunday?

  26. As of late I haven't put thought or in my heart to pass on the cards. I've been busy with alot but than again who hasnt, so for that I am sorry. Yet I do have small story... as I am preparing a new apartment set up on every chance I get after work, I came across a cousin whom I haven't spoken in a few months. In between conversation I started to ask about his relationship with Christ and so on. After his answers I threw in "hey since your online like alot, how about I send you a link website that I think might grab your attention?" He said yes so I sent it.

  28. 1. Unfortunately, no new stories to tell
    2. Prov. 29:18: "Where there is NO Vision (or God's Revelation/Word) the people perish (are unrestrained), but happy is he who keeps the law."

-When people are unrestrained, what do we see? Chaos! A bunch of self-willed people wanting their own ways, it is not a Vision of Order or Peace or Security. Those are the benefits of Vision being applied. Without Revelation or Vision from God, the people will be unrestrained & will be abandoned to their own Vision for life.

Example: Consider the People of Israel vs. all the surrounding nations. The Jews were the only people in the world who had Vision & the written Word from God. God told them about life and its purpose, how to relate to others, information about Himself, and He gave them Vision & Principles for every area of life. (The Law Code was very extensive). For a long time the United States even had it’s Judicial System based on some Old Testament Laws. If God would NOT have given Vision, the people would have been unrestrained like all the surrounding nations.

-Vision from God functions as a restraint from our selfish, destructive desires of our flesh. It actually protects us from ourselves. At the same time, I want to insert something very important. I am not saying that all we need is Law without Relationship, because Law without Relationship breeds Rebellion! We live our lives thru a Relationship with Jesus Christ. We live by Faith in His promises, which give us hope for eternity & give us direction and guidance for today’s living. We have the Word of God and we have the Holy Spirit (if you are a Christian) living inside of you, who reveals which words of God that need to be applied to some particular part of our lives. A couple of the blessings of Vision & Revelation = Security and Direction.

Security: Whenever we have Vision or when our family has Vision, we have a secure environment because you know what you are supposed to do, and what to be held accountable for.
Also, the Blessing of direction, which eliminates confusion, indecision, & provides a basis for Faith and confidence. Without Vision, you can expect confusion, expect conflict, and the longer any group goes without Vision, the more problems can snowball & get bigger.

-God’s people should be distinguished from those in the World. Those in the World live unrestrained lives; they do what they want, when they want. They have an empty life, always looking for something to satisfy them. On the other hand, people of God should live with a sense of direction and a sense of purpose & they find peace & happiness in that being fulfilled in their lives and in walking with God by His Revelation!!!

    2. The fear of man brings a snare, But he who trusts in the LORD will be exalted. (‭Proverbs‬ ‭29‬:‭25‬ NASB)
This stuck out because it's easy to cave in to others and peer pressure. But it's really a trap that leads to harm, regret, and maybe death. But trusting God and ibeying him in those moments will bring possible future reward and exaltation.

  31. 1.- This pass week I have not pass out any mini cards, hoping to improve!

    2.- Prov.29:25
Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.

    Isa. 51:12
I, even I, am he who comforts you. Who are you that fear mere mortals, human beings who are but grass.

    Matt. 10:28
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

God wants us not to fear man and be mislead and be captivated in the dark, a follower. He wants us to be leaders, righteous men, with faith and trust in Him always, therefore receiving his embrace of everlasting love.

  33. Late night for me, lol. I have been on the go since I left work today, but won't end the day without scripture and blogging :)

    1) Last week, there was a man playing a guitar outside of a Taco place I was walking into. He asked for any tips, and I could tell he isn't completely there. I promised him I would when I walked out. I decided to buy him a Taco and when I gave it to him he was really happy and promptly said "Break Time!" as he smiled greatly and stopped playing. I also have him a dollar tip and included a Greatest Mini Movie card. Untold him there is a lot of great videos about God and Jesus Christ, and j encouraged him to watch them if and when he could. He sounded excited as he said He would, and I hope he does!

    2) Proverbs 29:25 states "Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe."

I have been coming into a season in my heart where I am working to trust the Lord with all my heart, in deed and not just in word. I want Him to wash over me, filling me with the safety that only He can provide. Secured in Him, free of burden as Christ removes them from my neck and gives me His easier to bear yoke. Working on coming to the Lord regularly to give Him all that is in my heart and mind.

  34. 5 Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
I remember many of times saying “the older that I get, the smarter my father becomes.” The same goes, all the more, for our heavenly father. I have found that the closer we stay to His word, the more sense it makes to follow Him. However, the further and more disconnected we are, the greater the chance for becoming confused.

    2- Proverbs 29:19
Servants cannot be corrected by mere words; though they understand, they will not respond. A slave, whose obedience is reluctant. He may "understand" the words, but they produce no good effect. There is still lacking the true "answer" of obedience.
Lord I ask that you help me understand the words and the practice to which, me your servant, can be corrected to learn your true ways of obedience. Good night everyone and god bless

2 verse 17 stands out the most. We are training Alistair to say sorry when he disobeys and are teaching him to say exactly why he is sorry. Not just "I'm sorry", but "I'm sorry for shouting"
