Wow! It’s been a great month together with you and we’ve
learned so much. The following is a list of 22 of the many things we’ve learned
in such a short time. Please simply copy and paste these into a Word or email document. As you read through them,
highlight in bold the top 10 or so of your favorite things we’ve studied. If you've been having nightmares about this test, I assure you, this won't hurt a bit.
2.-I liked learning how to defeat the giant eraser
machine by writing my MP3 on a 3x5 and reviewing it during the day. I learned
that God pronounces a great blessing on meditating. And MP3 stands for Meditating,
Praying it into my life, Praising God, and Passing it on to others.
3.-I liked learning how we can be
great in God’s kingdom- Here’s a quote
from one of our early blogs-“Our great King has given us a great commission to
make a great impact by multiplying MANLY or Christlike men. Anyone who so
practices and teaches (mentors) God's word to others, Jesus said, "will be
called great in the kingdom of heaven" Mt.5:19. Jesus
also said that a life of service makes a person "great" (Mark
10:43-45) and they will receive a "great reward" (Luke
6:35). Also God's word commends those who are a "great help"
to newer believers (Acts 18:27). Thus, we wisely want to give our lives to what
is great. Using a scoreboard is not a new idea, but it's a great idea to
keep us pursuing what is truly great in God's kingdom. Today we want to begin
scoring on the first letter of GREAT- God's word.”
4.-I liked learning how to use the power tool of my will
to choose to prioritize God’s word over even my food or sleep- No Bible, no
breakfast or No Scripture, no sleep.
“I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my
daily food” Job 23:12
I have become “Unstoppable” as I am keeping my commitment
of “No scripture, no sleep.”
5.-I liked learning how to prevent the word from being
dead in my head via prayer reading. It personalizes any passage and enables me
to turn it into communion with my King.
6.-I liked the lesson and video about putting the big
rocks in first- making sure that I make time to spend with the rock of my
salvation; otherwise lesser things will crowd out time for the most important.
(Martha was busy with meal preparations, while Mary made time for what was
best- to first listen to Jesus. Luke 10:42)
7.-I liked picking out a verse from Ps.119 and personalizing
it as a prayer before reading God’s word. (Open my eyes that I may see
wonderful things and my wonderful King. Adapted from Ps.119:18).
Biblical hermeneutics is a fancy name for the art and
science of studying the Scriptures so we can discover what it actually says and
means, rather than guessing. Hermeneutics seeks to answer 3 key questions- What
does it say (Observation)? What does it mean (Exploration)? What does it mean
for me (Application)? We made this simple to remember with our REAP acronym:
8.-Reading- I
liked seeing how even the kings of Israel were to make the commitment to read God’s
word daily. Dt.17:18-19.
9.-Exploring-
I liked exploring Is. 53 and learning to use a Bible explorer’s tool-
summarizing. In summary, the passage was an amazing prophecy about Christ
suffering and dying for our sins.
10.-Applying-
I liked learning how to better apply God’s word by asking the
following application questions to hear God SPEAK to me-
S- Is there a Sin mentioned that I need to
confess?
P- Is there a Promise that applies to me that
I should claim?
E- Is there an Example to follow or an Error to
avoid?
A- Is there an Action I should take or an
Answer to a question I’ve had?
K- Is there Knowledge of my Lord for which I
can praise him?
I used these questions as I studied 1 Cor.10:1-13 to hear
God SPEAK to me.
I’d be like a foolish man building his house on sand if I
didn’t practice putting God’s word into practice.
11.-Praying- My
prayer life is improving as I have been learning how to follow the pattern of
the Lord’s prayer- First, God’s Praise and Priorities, before jumping to my
Petitions.
12.-I’m thankful God is my Father and that I have learned
to praise him accordingly. FATHER, I praise and thank you that
you are-
Faithful- You are
faithful to care for all my needs and faithful to forgive me. Great is Thy
faithfulness!
Available- Because
of Jesus, I now have access to your throne and can receive mercy and grace
anytime.
Teacher- Thank you
for giving me and teaching me your word. How kind of you to mentor me.
Helpful- You help me
in ways I never even asked for or expected. So many unprayed answers!
Empowering- Thank
you that you offer your power for living. Your Spirit is the wind beneath my
wings.
Rejoicing - Thank
you for all your encouraging words in your word and that you even rejoice over
me with singing. Zeph.3:17
13.-I’m glad I found a site that had
900 names of God which gave me lot’s of fuel for the fire of worshiping God.
14.-I was challenged by the truth that
"the
kingdom of God is forcefully advancing and forceful (determined) men lay hold
of it." Mt.11:12. I am determined to be determined (unstoppable). I know I need to pray for protégés from the
nation of determination, not procrastination.
15.-I know we are in a terrible, but invisible war. So I
am glad that I was helped to now have a couple prayer warriors to aid me in the
fight.
16.-I liked seeing that the will of God is revealed in
the word of God. “I desire to do your will O God, your law is within my heart.”
Ps.40:8. By helping my protégés get into the word of God daily, I will be
helping them to be transformed by the renewing of their minds so that they can experience
that God’s will is good, pleasing and perfect (Rom.12:1-2).
17.-When we
studied the phrase, “Thy will be done” I liked
learning how to pray that our protégés and
others would be MANLY like Christ-
Mature in Character- to be a power H.O.U.S.E.-
Hungry, Obedient, Unstoppable, Strong in the Lord, Encouraging
Active in mentoring- just as Jesus was- that we
would be active and have many spiritual descendants
Noble in battle- that we would fight the good
fight for our purity and the freedom and involvement of others
Loving in relationships- that we would learn
to love better, especially our family members.
Yoked to Christ and a band of brothers- that
we would be devoted to Christ and each another
18.-I liked looking over an online list of powerful
prayers that Paul prayed for others and picking out one to pray for my protégés
and others. I also liked the acronym to guide my prayers for the spiritual maturity of my FAMILY- that they would be Faithful
with A+Attitudes, that they
would become Mature
in character, that they would be Influencers
for the kingdom, Loving
and Yoked
to good friends and spouses.
19.-I liked the analogy that as warriors, we must guard the well of our
hearts from the enemy that seeks to pollute it with sin. And that if we confess
our sins, God is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and even cleanse
us from what sins we didn’t even know we committed.
I’m glad that we looked at several
Scriptures regarding the importance of forgiving others as God has forgiven us.
The older brother’s unforgiveness toward his prodigal brother hardened his
heart and kept him from enjoying his father’s joy and fellowship at the
celebration. He ended up resenting even his father’s grace.
20.-I know that confession of my wrongdoings can still be
tough to do. Yet, confession of sin is foundational for growth. Relationships
with God and others suffer greatly when we brush our bad behavior under the
rug. Plus, we lose respect in our own eyes and the eyes of others. Also we tend
to think we will lose face if others knew we blew it. So I like that we will
be commended for being honest for seeking to right wrongs with others. We just simply
type a letter- the letter R- which stands for Repented, Restitution, Reconciled,
Regained my Respect. (I only need to put an R when I have sought to right a
wrong with another. If we were to put an R for each day we repented of a sin of
the heart, we would all be putting down an R every day:)
21.-I liked the important warning and promise I wrote
down as my MP3- “He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever
confesses and renounces them finds mercy.” Prov.28:13.
22.-I liked the way we will maintain respect for each
other in returning phone calls promptly (by the end of the next day at the
latest) and in being prompt for meetings. The simple offering of a doughnut or
a drink is a helpful way to practice the biblical injunction of making
restitution to a wronged individual. I like that we’re trying to foster a good
mood about such, just as God celebrates restoration in relationships. And this
small gift to make amends even puts points on the board for the team and the person
who had the strength to right his wrong.
Now copy and paste below this line the top 3 out of the 10
you highlighted in bold above.
Next boil each of these 3 down into one or two short sentences.
Here are 3 silly examples-
1.- I liked learning how to simply explain to children
how E = MC squared.
2.-I liked learning how to defuse a time bomb
blind-folded.
3. I liked learning how to skydive without a para.
Now email me back all of the above.
Now, most importantly, in your own words share one or
more of these 3 things with at least two other people- ideally the person(s)
that you are seeking to bring on as a coach quality man. Other people might be
one of your prayer partners or a potential protege. Talking with them is
recommended, but if you can’t reach them that way, then emailing or texting will
be accepted. No smoke signals though. Please seek to share with them in your
own words, rather than mine, what you’ve liked already about M3. You do realize
what you will be doing in sharing with such people, don’t you? You’ll be
planting seeds in them to grow their interest in joining M3. So please pick
people whom you see have the potential to join us either as coaches or protégés.
If they join, they will be credited to you. Leaders attract followers. Let’s be
Christlike in this way too. Jesus said, “Follow me.”
When you have shared what you’ve learned, email me by
Sunday night and tell me whom you shared with. Way to go!!!
Looking for some place to read this first day of the new year? How about Psalm 1? Psalm 1 is the entrance into the Psalms. And note as you enter through the doorway, you meet an M3 type man- he is daily in God’s word and delighting in it. He has conquered the giant eraser machine (perhaps with his 3x5 MP3:) and meditates on God’s word day and night. He is rooted in God’s word and thus is blessed and fruitful. May this new year bring such blessings your way.
Want to make a new year's resolution for an incredible revolution in your life? Then simply remain true to the Lord and to M3 and you will see GREAT things occur in your life. I guarantee it!
R also means I have great Respect for you!
